I wonder who remembers a greaseproff-paper type roll called Izal? Did they have that ion Belgium or Oz too?
I'm told there's a scandinavian brand which is like Izal on one side and soft on the other. Mind you I gather in some countries the toilets monitor your health and tell you when you're ill!

Sounds like you are having a better day! :)

You cannot be grumpy on a morning as beautiful as this however had you try!

Things I didn't even mention.....the white rose that opens peachy pink early and late in the season and is now frosted...like a sugar rose. Likewise the barbie pink rose (normally peach own it's season) with an ice tip to wash petal.

The 'garland' of frosted spiderwebs right the way along the front of my 'car p0rt'. It's funny how nature watches us decorate at this time of year and then says ....pfft...you think that's pretty? Look at THIS! And she is right, she is such an artist.

(in actual fact things are crazy here, but que sera sera, do what you can, enjoy the good stuff......I am me and I can just enjoy being here and seeing the beautiful things I can see ATM.

I think of the people who don't have nice peoeple to Share their woes with and relaise it's another tremendous luck I found you guys. Thank you.

Another mass loo-roll buyer here. :D

Velvet was on promo in Sainsburys a few weeks ago, 16 rolls for £4 if I remember correctly.
Got 5 packs, trolley was full, so needed to make an intermediate car drop-off before continuing the rest of the shopping.

    Velvet rules.
I had several bad experiences with Andrex where the cutting line of different layers didn't match up for some reason.

I hope you all found this post very interesting.

I like the normal supermarkets own best sort of ones. I bought ones with Shea butter and others with aloe Vera in this year for parent (who had need of sensitivity after an op) and it was REVOLTING. Slimy. Shudder.

I don't want thin of grease proof certainly, but I tbh I really cannot imagine what quilted could do (bar risk clogging septic pipes) and tose slimy ones...never again! Yuckity yuck. I must have used them at other people's homes before without noticing though, so must be psychological.

I'm not a mass loo roll buyer....I buy a multipack and replace when we are about to start the 2nd from last roll.

Re internal insulation, we really do not have the space to do it, the house is a tight squeeze as it is and to lose more, would make living here impossible plus, being a pre fab, I doubt the HA would want to spend the money to upgrade things as these houses only have limited life span and it is over 60 years old already!

I think they did manage to do some insulation when the houses were upgraded with a second skin about 15-20 years ago, not a huge amount though as the second skin consisted more of a skim and pebble dashing the outside but a (paper) thin layer. Our biggest problem here is the vents, one big one in the kitchen into the chimney and a big one in the frontroom on the side wall at calf level, which if the wind is in the right direction, makes it seem like an ice cold gale is blowing through at foot level.

We're ok though, my parent's didn't have central heating until I was a little older and my first flat was single glazed with no central heating at all...we used to go to bed wearing wooly hats and several layers and wake up to ice on the INSIDE of the windows.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

No, it's a system boiler. Unlike you, we have draughts and single glazing throughout. :)

    GUESS WHAt!?

Plumber coming to morrow to attach hot water to my bath tub. I have a site meeting with heating people and architect on Friday...do you think I can take in on the bath? The achitectural could perch on the sink and the heating guy can sit on the loo. He might need it. (I will be leaving loo on the roll)

Not a great idea? Otherwise I only have all night tomorrow night for the worlds longest bath. :). (today boiler is working so should be hot water). I have a book called bird brain to read which omeone dropped off saying it would make me roar with laughter. So I can soak in a hot tub of scented water reading a funny book and thinking how great life is

If the boiler is still working and the bath is hot all 3 of you could share a bath - if it is cold boilerman gets to bathe on his own?!

Go for a drive with the car heater on, or come and snuggle up with me and we can keep each other warm.

Wish I had offers like that every day!!!:D

Fortunately it is fixed now. Thank goodness!

Oh dear. Patrick Moore is on the telly trying to be polite to people talking Venusian or describing being chased by UFOs. Mixed in with sketches with Morecambe and Wise.

They just announced he'd met the first man in space and the first man to fly a plane. What a life.:j

As well as having been finance director for the monster raving looney party!:D

My grandmother used to have that. I have never understood how anything so inflexible and utterly non-absorbent (to the point of being waterproof so anything liquid would run off it) could possibly be considered useful for wiping anything.

Enjoy your bath, lir, and may there be many enjoyable baths for you in the future with this boiler. :)

    :rotfl: Excellent idea!

LNE and I used to have to share baths in our first flat after we got married. The displacement of water caused by 2 bodies was the only way to get the water deep enough considering the woefully inadequate hot water system.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
