From the Generalissimos' school newsletter:
A camera has been handed in to the school office. A flat battery has unabled us to discover the owner.
To unable is apparently now a verb. I unable, you unable, he unables etc. Remember English is 100% about usage: if enough people get it wrong, wrong becomes right.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I don't blame people for not taking business calls at weekends. It's not a way I am familiar with, from my family, myself or dh. But if their businesses succeed like that....better work life balance I guess. I find it amazing the 'mañana' in British small business I encounter regularly, and the ineptitude.
E.g. The nice uilders were amazingly go getting...but we're let down by several suppliers, some of who have been let down them selves by suppliers. doozer's h is like a speedy Gonzales and I think enforced slowdowns must be almost pain ful for him, he does everything super fast with tremendous energy.
My lawn mower has been at the repairers for a while now and they called a few weeks ago to tell me it was almost ready.....but that last push for completing and delivery has obviously been a push too far.
We had four men stood around doing nothing for an hour last week waiting for a skip that eventually turned up three hours late. Ignored calls, ignored texts. Time that we have to pay for, not the people that cba. I had to be on standby to drop what I was doing to make up lost time. It's not great when something apparantly small to them knocks on in a big way for others.
I think everyone we deal with as a colleague more than a 'supplier' takes calls when the phone rings, regardless of day, and usually regardless of time! But that's the benefit of experience, knowing they have when actually needed. It would be nice not have to, but it's especially important to support something expensive that can't time plunging people into misery within office hours.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Facebook has become a verb, as has frape.
Maybe the camera owner is very, very relieved that the battery is flat.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. My favourite is burgle.
To burgle was a verb then some bright spark decided that it should be transformed into a noun, one who burgles is a burglar. Then another person decided to turn burglar into a verb, to burglarize!
We can't really complain about any step unless we're going to go back to speaking low German.0 -

DS reports that nobody has made fun of his hair at school today.
I gather that most of his friends responded diplomatically by asking him if he liked it, but he tells me that one of the girls likes it... because she likes the feel of it to stroke! :eek:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Scott Matthews is awesome, I saw him play a gig once with only 20 people in the room, he played a 12-string acoustic.
Newton Faulkner another good listen if you like that sort

Boiler came on for heating guy this morning.....but we could not turn heating on becUse the cylinder needed to warm up again. But....
Just been out for an hour (dh's day off, fri and today and we have been 4sing about at vets and poking boiler) and its not working again.
I think this might be about to become a very cheap not working pellet boiler, which is better than a full price one I suppose.0 -

There are some very knowledgeable peeps on the DIY board, some of them are registered heating engineers. Given that you have already uploaded photos it may be worth posting on there and getting 2nd/3rd & 4th opinions.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
