How long will this journey take? My wife is taking a group of people by coach from near Archway station in North London (N19 3RQ) to Sloane Square. They need to arrive at 5PM on Thursday this week, ie at a busy time of day during the run up to Xmas.
The RAC route planner comes up with a route going through the centre of London, eg Regent Street, Piccadilly and Knightsbridge. It says the journey is 7 miles, which it reckons can be done in 28 minutes. I thought that it might take much, much longer than that, given the likely traffic, but I have no real idea.
Does anybody have any help? DW needs to book the coach to leave at the right time to arrive at 5PM, so it's rather important to get this right. Help!
I'd expect about at least an hour more than that.
Unless she can use bus lanes?
CK might know better. I used to drive a small nippy car through west London in my last job but it was hard going. In fact the journey was the main factor in my moving jobs, even taking a pay cut.

Sorry to be a shoe militant. I used to work in a related job and if I didn't already have a business to worry about, I would have a shop full of gorgeous continental childrens shoes and the associated little people to fit them toEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'd re-pressurise the boiler to the top safest limit. Then bleed the radiators and then re-pressurise the boiler again. It should work then.
As GDB says, the boiler has a safety cut out when the pressure drops below a certain level.
It could be caused by a leak in the system or just "teething" problems.0 -

Well.....I can bleed radiators.
We have done that a few times this week, (as connected a new system to an old one and it's thought air could be 'appearing' in there for a while) but they have been good, almost nothing, only one had some air in it. And a radiator that has never worked had come on now the cleaner is in the system. (hurrah' made a huge difference).
Because its not signed off ok feel we need to oblige by the fitters request we touch nothing else and give them time.
Incidentally, it was meant to take four to five days to get up and running and it started going in at....um, cannot remember, October sometime? They have held up the nice builder, fibbed, been generally inefficient, poor customer service and it's compounded by the fact I really, REALLY dislike the guy...nice builder says I hide it very poorly:o but I feel cross that after such a succesful summer of good work and good humour these peoe have come in with there big ugly machine that doesn't work, been incredibly thick and gauche and seem frustrated with US!0 -
Driving, Picadilly and Regent Street do not mix. I don't know North London all that well but I'd opt for a route that went west then south, rather than south then west. I'd look to get onto the Edgware Road, Park Lane because it's rarely jammed, skirt the wall of Buckingham Palace a bit near Victoria and drive through Belgravia cause it's quieter that way - obvious routes are never quick.
I think she should get the tube and meet them there! That would be much quicker and she could probably spend an hour shopping around Sloane St before they get there!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Can coaches use bus lanes?
In any case, while they cannot nip they have bulk advantage at forciong their way through. I think lots longer than as thinks but I would aim to get their earlier (by an hour and a half) and have tea first.
Fwiw, if the other peeps are London inhabitants I think it's not an efficient way for them to get there anyway.0 -

Could be half an hour, could be 3 hours depending on the traffic which is utterly unpredictable.
If they're using the bus lanes it should be less than an hour.0 -

Just remember that when you bleed radiators your system pressure will drop. If my radiators have a lot of air in them, I may have to re-pressurise the boiler before I can bleed them all, and then I'd always re-pressurise the boiler after the "bleeding" is complete.
You may be doing that and it's something different, but try and not get frustrated0 -

I am beyond frustrated. Frautrated is way back in October. November was 'cross and angry' and December nears 'murderous and resentful'. (I am a person of extremes:o:D) I have actually wondered how I would pellet horrid heating man and how long he would provide heat for (I think about two hours.)
Very little air comes out. I don't know how to repressure, I never knew we had too.
It's a 'sealed' system, if that makes any difference. It has eated way more pellets than it was meant to aswell, (again 'toothing problems' and warming up a frozen house ' they say but, those toothing problems are expensive. A couple of pallats of woodpellet is not small potatoes.0
