"It's not been going to plan from when installation started, and this was near the end of its first working week, day seven and it's flopped."

    (I think.)

LIR, is there an expansion vessel (probably red) with a pressure gauge on top? What does that read?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Ping tomplan.

I think I made going to plan!

I know your h was interested then thought...hmm, maybe not from this guy!

Tbh, the worst thing is the broken hope of heating and hot water, not the actual lack of it. How one plans a day, indeed a week or month....when you do heavy and dirty stuff, or when you don't...it's all about being efficient when you don't have heat. We had plans t go out with friends tonight but no way was I washing my hair again in a cooling house. Nope. No siree.

Luckily it was ok last night when we had friends here for a meal in the new kitchen. Still felt cold to them, but we were toasty!

We have three expansion vessels, but I guess you mean the one nearest the boiler? I will run and check...hang on...

( and yes, spot on translation )

D'yuh, silly me, its zero because it's not on. There is a second arrow (red) pointing at one. And...our pressure guage is underneath.

Tbh......it's clear a woman did not design the bit that sits in the house, Has lots of awkward bits to clean around and the pressure thing sits two thirds of the way up a wall so will be awkward to box in..a big bulge, but of course we still need access to it.

It's not so cold yet, I was only teasing when I said you can worry gdb. I don't want you to worry a bit.:D. Dh is doing lates then we are nipping up to share a toothbrush base and hop in to bed, :)

I like (or used to) browsing in record shops, and looking through the booklets. I also love going to see bands/ DJs live.

And now, although my little car is blessed with heated seats, screens and wing mirrors, I don't think there is anywhere to plug in a mp3 player. Any my laptop makes everything sound quite tinny (whatever the music, I worked out a long time ago that I like bass).
    :D

You might want one of these for £10 or less.http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=in+car+ipod+player&!!!!!googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=6717541689&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9747721491388057930&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_1it27mbysa_b I got one and it's great. Charges up the phone while transmitting it to your car radio. You can download free audiobooks from the site viva posted some time back.

Go and work in a women's shoe shop for a day and take a look at women's feet who wore 'fashion shoes' rather than Clarks/Start Rite as kids. Then you will find it very easy to say no.

then we are nipping up to share a toothbrush base :)

Mr S has been shooting two days this week. His shoot syndicate is made up of elderly military types. I learnt yesterday that they share hip flasks:eek:. I had always thought they all used their own little tots. Mr S had been telling me of the various accuracy fuels he sampled yesterday - his offering was Sloegin - others were Bushmills with pieces of ginger in it and a rather nice sherry/bovril combo.

I would go for the toothbrush base sharing with beloved everytime. The alcohol and warming properties would not entice me to be swigging from the same flask as that lot.

It reminded me that last boxing day a gun took a bite from a pie, handed the pie down to his dog who had a nibble, and then took another bite himself.

What is quite cute is that a Brigadier has named his dog after another of the Guns (a General and his boss). When he is beating he appears to be shouting at and cursing the General.

    So true.

Throughout my teens I wore high heeled shoes (I wanted to be taller). Although I stopped this by the time I was twenty my toes tend to bend upwards at right angles to my feet. It was a source of amusement to my husband when we met.

They mostly look flat these days but if I do wear heels my foot takes on this 'natural position'.

Interesting point Gen. I think there's an issue with poor fitting shoes in general - the extreme example being Chinese foot-binding but with many lower levels of affliction. Some of my aunts had problem feet from wearing too small shoes as children in poverty. There's a lot to be said for this.

I wore heels in my teens too - quite big ones as platforms were in for the early part. I think the impact depends on the size of your feet. If you have a little foot, then the rake of your foot in a 3" heel will be much more acute, I think lir said something similar about children's feet. As I'm an adult 6 1/2 shoe, and my feet grew little through my teens, this affected me less. I did however have huge problems when ballet pump style flats came in with the whole Sloane look, I had to gradually lower my heels because my calf muscles were too short.

When I first started at senior school there was a type of shoe that was banned due to the number of injuries from people falling down stairs and breaking or fracturing their ankle. It wasn't these which I was rather partial to by the age of 13:

    This.

I would not be buying those shoes for school. DD has a couple of pairs of fashion shoes which she can wear to parties or for short periods of time. As far as school shoes go, nothing but properly fitted Clarks are going on her feet. They are worn every day and for long periods of time. Those little feet are still very pliable and precious when growing - it won't take too much to damage the growth plate and cause problems that will last forever.

I am surprised that Clarks make those shoes. I am not surprised that they are in the sale - parents buy Clarks for specific criteria which those shoes don't meet.
