Know anyone looking for a job? Just in case
This one is 23-28k pa but sadly not on a USS scheme, I wish they would let technicians join USS where we are.
Well, I'm pleased to say that they are still expecting me back on Monday so I don't think I need to applyI would have done though if things weren't going well (I could get the train from here I think).
When I was first a technician (part time, on a temporary contract), I could have joined USS as I was on a high enough grade (not sure whether that is a Uni decision or a USS one), I eventually had to formally apply for my job (that was a strange interview), but at a lower grade (if I hadn't been in a bad place mentally and otherwise I would have realised that was a sign) which meant I didn't qualify for USS, but could be part of SAUL (a University of London scheme). I think they will be giving me about £10 a month should I make it to retirement age (whatever that will be when we get there).
Which reminds me - I really need to find out about company pensions. I didn't opt out, but I should really find out more about what I have been opted into...0 -
Cold, grumpy, miserable, tearful. Just another three miserable emotions and I could be a schizophrenic pantomime dwarf next to snow white.
I missed after noon rounds beause an electricrian for the heating people arrived and tried (unsuccessfully) to put me in my place. Then I fell behind and started panicking. Dh then needed me to do something....so what should have been done by four is only going to get done when he gets home to help me at about quarter to nine.. Presuming the trains are ok.
We have to clear a room for nice builder before he gets here too.0 -

Lir, it amazes me what you do routinely - and largely just you during the week. With everything that has been going on house-wise its not surprising that you couldn't get it all done.
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Edit: Is there no-one else who can give you a hand whilst you are waiting for fir?0 -
Nice builder will clear his own room. He won't even notice. He's bringing another pair of hands attached to a strapping young man. Whatever it is won't take long to move.
Just do what you *need* to do and forget the things that aren't crucial. If all the other things are worth being tearful over, then added pressures mean not a jot.
As someone once said; f**k it!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

No. I could no it now by myself but I am cold and tired and frankly a big bit grumpy. Plus I am trying to get supper ready at the same time, and being in the barn and in the kitchen is impossible at the same time. (it's one of those things that needs time in the oven, so I cannot just do it later, but I can warm it up later)
I am not doing so much ATM, the place looks a mess. The time we might normally spend doing the basic maintaining we are chasing our tails doing other stuff ATM...then.... I grump because I am not getting my recharge and defrost time in the bath.. Which also makes it harder going out there, because I know I am going to be cold from then until I get into bed.
It's not the cold exactly, it's that the heating people should not have it cold now. They have held everything up and I thought poor doozergirl would have her husband well and truely home by now and I would be bathing again and warm and toasty. The deadlines keep changing....
E.g. Nice builder was meant to find a system that had been running from the time he was here on Wednesday until tomorrow....now he will find one that might work in the morning, no time to prove on the new system before attaching to the old.
I am terrified it's not going to work (add that to my list) and its all just weighing heavily.
Parent is going to get dh so I will turn supper off and head out into the dark and cold then, and because I am going out so late I will probably skip doing a 'lates' check tonight...if the dogs tolerate such slacking.0 -

A strapping young man?
I will still try and clear the room, I need to do it really, other wise it's just got to be cleared and sorted again after wards, They can move the dead little fridge to the feed room for me (dead fridges and freezer are loved by small holders).
Nice builder does everything and not asked....HE is a dream. But he is giving up a Saturday with you my dear, another one, and pulled a very long day midweek here......I want it to be as easy for him as it can be.
Tbh, the rate the heating peoe are going he and I might sit down and cry together!:rotfl:0 -

That entire program is like !!!!!! to me. The food, the shops he goes to, his kitchen, and for some bizarre reason, I think he's rather sexy :too; maybe it's all the other stuff combined that help
Hoofing things about is as natural as breath to h; something he doesn't even think about. The other stuff is frustrating as he is less able to control and I am not allowed to poke people in the eyes anymore.

A cousin (one of many) has just rented a house and I took the day of work to help her clean it. If tinkers are use for nothing else we know how to wield a bleach bottle. He has taken up with a country girl and she is very nice but I was amazed by the amount of dirt her family (her mother and sisters were cleaning with us)didn't see. They cleaned and we smiled and then went behind them with a scrubbing brush. And the finish on What is supposed to be a top end house is disgraceful.
Is this normal? I don't mean to be insulting but do you all live in squalor in houses that Aren't really finished? I have lived here for years but everything that is done is perfection. God help the tradesman that tries to deliver less.
The stuff that isn't done is no big deal. It is on the list. But this house, it is as though they started something, half did and moved on to the next room. And nothing was clean. It wasn't dirty but it didn't gleam....Retail is the only therapy that works0
