Curly dog went for his first ever walk today. Not far, just a fifteen minute stroll. He was not convinced, though he enjoyed sniffing. Big dog came with us, and though she is grumbly about him, she twice let the opportunity to play with other dogs pass after a rueful look at her charge.
But, we did meet two separate walkers with two old and kind dogs who gently sniffed curly dog and he behaved well (no gnawing on their ears, phew).0 -

It's blimmin' boiling here today. It peaked at 34C in the City (it will have been hotter here) and now it's gone cloudy and is raining off and on which is just adding humidity. The forecast is for 37C tomorrow which is the first day of summer then a cool change on Sunday. Roll on Sunday.
I'm off to India on sunday, for the third Test in Kolkata. Forecast is 24c - 27c with no rain!0 -
.....sorry...and Happy Birthday PN :beer:0

Meanwhile, looking through the Halifax house price data, something struck me. According to the lender, the average house price across the UK – as of October – is now around £158,000 (seasonally adjusted). In April 2009, the bottom of the post-crisis crash, the price was around £154,000.
In other words, we’re just a kick in the backside away from the low. That’s quite an eye-opener for anyone who thinks the property market has been flat or even rising over the last few years.
That's all very good, but we usually discuss mushrooms, dogs and cats, curtains, second hand cars, short nighties and bedroom activities with electronic fly swatters on here.0 -
Good luck Gen, doubt you will need it.

About perfect. Humidity is about 60% up there, 78% down here today.
C'mon the Poms! I watched pretty much all of the last 2 Tests vs Ind as well as the humiliation vs Pak and I'm quite positive about the remainder of the series. Top Indian cricketers don't earn their living playing Test match cricket and haven't for a time. Those that started out that way (e.g. Tendulkar) are coming to the end of their time. Ind is surrendering their home advantage by not playing the long form of the game any more. IMHO. I wish I was joining you.
When I retire I plan to travel the world going to see the great sporting events including all the Test & F1 venues.0 -
I had a strange moment last night. While I was marking I had the TV on in the background and somebody's voice that sounded familiar but I couldn't place it.
When I checked at the end I realised it wasn't somebody famous but actually somebody that used to work for me and, without ever displaying any desire to be on the telly, now has their own TV show.
I mean, honestly, how easy is it to get into telly these days. (tries not to sound jealous). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
OH just got back from USA. He flew via Dublin. He reckons he didn''t have to go through customs at all on his return. At Dublin he remained airside because he had a connecting flight and at Heathrow he was in the internal flight area because he arrived from Ireland. Can this be right?
(going out he cleared USA customs at Dublin airport, surprisingly.)I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
