He struck me as rather shy, with women in particular, unless he was in full "Jimmy Savile the Star" mode. Guilty? No idea. But if he was I think it would have been more taking advantage of what he thought was on offer than deliberate misuse of his celebrity.

There are laws....that people under a certain age can't make offers and even if they did you have to assume they are not offers.

IIRC most jim-fixed-it-for-me participants were 8-12 rather than 14-16. So anything that you could mis-interpret as on offer is forbidden territory.

Viva,I am led to believe Janet street-porter said it was common knowledge at the bbc what exactly jim was fixing.

She's normally got enough of a mouth on her, why didn't she speak out?

I have a haircut to arrange in the next 7 days... Bridesmaid duties, followed by starting job (still yet to receive letter withdrawing offer, so better start acting like its happening!). Felt it was worth splashing out slightly as last supercheap haircut took way too much.off, but struggling to find anything reasonable. I hate trying to find a hairdresser.

Groupon? I am normally happy with the ones on there.

And can you call HR and ask them some starting questions? Like where to show up/who to report to? Then you know for sure :)

Now I need to find someone for that job :rotfl:

Quiet day at work today so I read the USADA's report in its entirety. What a depressing read.

It's hard to say whether the worst bit is his team director pushing young team members to take drugs, Armstrong threatening people giving evidence about drugs in cycling including at least once while on the road or apparent, implied collusion with the UCI to keep a positive test quiet.

Me too! I had to find one recently; I just wanted a trim and some streaks as it'd not been even trimmed for 8 months and everybody wanted a fortune. Finally I booked at the 'local college' but even they wanted a fortune and was tricky to get to. Then I stumbled across a local place that had a sign in the window saying models wanted - it's just up the road, cheaper than the college and she did a good job.... only trouble is it's Thursdays only so out of the question to re-visit if I get the job.

I saw her bit on news night. The audience took her to task and she seemed genuinely Stressed about the issue. Same I suppose goes for Rantzen, especially because of her involvement with things like childlike. Who knows, maybe this sort of thing was the motivation behind things like that?

I know I feel guilt and confusion over things I haven't acted on, but mostly the things that form our opinions, the hackle risers, are non specific, circumstantial, hearsay or otherwise tenuous. Hearsay is a terrible one, because it can totally form an opinion, but be based on far more than you will ever know, or some one's ugly mood or revenge. :(

The places on groupon are always a bit of a way away. I'll have to make a decision soon - don't have too much time! I know one place I definitely won't be going though as there was a lady in complaining about her haircut!

Job wise - I already have a piece of paper telling me where to go, at what time etc. Got that after sending back signed contract. Unfortunately I know that at that point at least one of my two refs hadn't sent their references back. Its difficult trying to act cool when you're anything but!

MIL was saying that she was discussing Jimmy Saville with a group of friends. Then she realised that in that group was a guy that everyone just knew to keep their little girls away from, so the conversation changed pretty quickly. Must say it is a guy that always gives me the creeps. I asked her why no-one had ever said or done anything and she said that no-one would ever have had concrete proof it was just something everyone knew and anyway his wife is a sweetie.

And of course the guy might be completely blameless/harmless but at some point been the subject of malicious gossip (may be spurned someone's drunken advances, messy relationship breakup or whatever) and now everyone 'knows' that there is something wrong with him...
    I think....
