Could she have gone out of her way to not be the stereotypical jewish mother?
She did not want anyone to know she was a Jew full stop. She went to great lengths to conceal her ethnicity ( she died at the end of the nineties, googling people was not so common, but it was still documented because she was in a big red book iykwim that didn't say it, but Did mention her marriage and it did say it there that he was.
There were arguments over things like Bar mitzvah and stuff. It created a great deal of family dischord with her in laws. ( who are arcing degrees of religious, from none to Rabbi).
She was however a strange mix of distance parenting and yet controlling.0 -
Sorry for wasting your time. It was a follow on to the comments a few pages ago about a new series on Ch4 that started last night called "jewish mother of the year" - a cross between "my big fat gypsy wedding" and "the apprentice". The candidate they focused on most was the mother in the family featured in that youtube video. Who in real life non celebrity world, calls their kids, September Bliss, Tiger-Lily, Atlanta Lace & Duran Blue????
Sounds awful as a programme... and the names - purely bizarre.0 -
I think the names are funny, not offensive, kids get called worse things all the time.0

There has to be some way to stop this guy.0 -
