I thought you were younger, zag...that's 1972!
When I was young the only animals were baby dinosaurs.
I was too young to be in the real audience back then (you had to be 18) - I was in the viewing room above it. It looked really weird; the whole studio set was microscopic. I hadn't realised that everything on TV is cramped and camera angles are used to give an illusion of space. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Haha, I recommend if ever given the chance tyou try reading autocue and processing information in your ear. Suddenly the cramped issue is less of a problem, as you want autocue CLOSE and not blocked!0

Just watched "jewish mother of the year" with DS1. We were both hysterical. His comment, "If you've modeled yourself on any of them, you have failed." I think that is a compliment!

When I hear the word "Jewish" indicating female, I always think of Dorien in Birds of a Feather
Edit: Just watched that clip.... well, first bit I couldn't hear a word they were saying and camera was all over the place, then this cr4p singing etc started so I FF it ... and got near the end and closed it. Probably one of THE most pointless/annoying things I've had the misfortune to click into. !!!!!! is that all about?0 -

I was just going to say I don't think silver's link will help much.
Jewish women are like any collective of women, diverse yet with stereotypes of all of female and human nature.
Edit: I did not know my mil, but I know her sin quite well, and have seen lots of Betamax of her. She was so far from the stereotype of that Dorian. She was softly spoken, widely read and successful in her career. There are a few obituaries of her around, from newspaper records, and it was nice to read people writing well of her. I know it meant a huge amount to dh and I think his siblings too. I do not know whether we would have got on but I still would like to have known her. And for her to be around for dh and his siblings.
She had terrible hang ups about her 'Jewishness' which I think is very, very sad.
edit again, sin should obviously read son, and I must remember to turn the auto correct off again.0 -

Sorry for wasting your time. It was a follow on to the comments a few pages ago about a new series on Ch4 that started last night called "jewish mother of the year" - a cross between "my big fat gypsy wedding" and "the apprentice". The candidate they focused on most was the mother in the family featured in that youtube video. Who in real life non celebrity world, calls their kids, September Bliss, Tiger-Lily, Atlanta Lace & Duran Blue????I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Could she have gone out of her way to not be the stereotypical jewish mother?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
