I was planning on Saturday - is it your Mad Hatters tea party on Sunday? Sounds like great fun
. I haven't been in London for a while. I'm thinking I am going to regret being there at a weekend!
I was thinking about getting in touch with a friend so see if she wanted to meet up. Then I realised that she will be expecting a normal mooch around the shops whereas I am planning on doing a tour of special offers, and am hoping to get my breakfast, lunch and dinner for free, and possibly a couple of extra meals for Sunday/ during the week. (Thanks Amex)
It was fun last weekend 'going shopping', but knowing that I wasn't spending very much (my favourite kind of shopping).
yupWill be catching up with a friend. Dual birthdays treat.
Shame I've missed you this time.
Wait, what am I missing with AMEX?0 -
Thanks and you are right, there is no problem with dual nationality. You use the passport of the country you are traveling to so I use my British passport if I'm traveling to London and my Aussie one when I come back to Sydney.
If I'm going somewhere else I can use any passport on the way there but have to use the Aussie one to come back.
I have no idea what the sanction is for travelling back to Aus on the British passport, probably nothing.
The big plus is that I can't lose the Ashes any more. The downside is the hassle and expense of running 2 passports which isn't much let's face it. A few hundred bucks and a form to fill out once a decade.
I wonder if having 2 passports gets a posh alert from someone that doesn't have one. Time will tell.
.
I had a work colleague who had an Irish passport (although he never lived there). I'd have thought it would be exactly as useful as a UK one but he said if you went to some parts of the world it didn't carry the same political baggage that a UK one did.
I later read in a book somewhere that along with Canadian and New Zealand passorts they're much sought after by intelligence services.
Apparently they try to pass their agents off as English-speaking foreignors abroad, but too many cultural features of US, UK and even Australian life are widely known in the wider world, but, unless they meet another native, most people they meet don't really know enough about these countries to challenge someone about their background. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Quite MSE and suited to this board - I am looking on Rightmove. At houses for Miss S.
I can dream. It is scary . It is going to be some time, and some parental help if she is going to ever get on the housing ladder here.
I've been saving since I had a job during GCSEs. I'm going to find it difficult to part with my nest egg I think. Even when it felt like it was a pipe dream I kept saving what I could. Now, getting a better job than I thought I would after a few things that have happened (and more to the point not happened) and it being in a surprisingly reasonably priced area mean it could be sooner rather than later.
One of my parents started taking their pension earlier this year, and gave myself and sibling their lump sum towards deposits too (so not entirely BOMAD-free).
My bro bought a few months ago, not so far away from you (if I remember correctly). Its certainly not a cheap area!0 -

Enough to give me an excuse to visit LondonI've mentioned most of the offers, but if you need any more pointers just let me know.
Just googled your treat - looks like great fun
Was there going to be a NP meet up in London (or elsewhere)?
Edit: Heston is having a tea party today too (on now Ch4+1)0 -

There are more here:
http://www.cardmemberoffers.co.uk/bb/
which are on until Christmas. There are offers using the foursquare app which keep coming around (the harvey nics, and gap ones are on there).
I'm sure (and hope) there will be more0 -
i dislike foursquare. I don't like being tracked. The things I do for cashback0

I don't really like being tracked either. I only use it when there is something in it for me (and I use topcashback too when shopping online). I let clubcard and nectar collect data about me too though I guess. I think I just have cheap principles
The first offers (earlier in the summer) were just on foursquare, but most of the ones now seem to work without it.0 -
Oh, that sounds draining! I'm trying to imagine a chicken mini drama.
Gogt me trying to imagine how that the other sizes such as chicken mega drama:eek:
And £25 back when you spend £50 on Oxford Street this weekend (I'm planning on buying JL gift vouchers if I can't find anything else).
£10 back when you spend £10 in Gap, also £25 back when you spend £25 in Harvey Nicols. I'm sure I won't find anything in there, so that will be gift vouchers too.
They won't count towards your £2k spend mind you, but there are some good deals.
Here's where you're planning to shop! More informative than google earth IMHO,:beer:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
