I'd rather have a DH that was financially useful
Fortunately we are all very liberal on this thread and don't mind if you or PN or whoever would rather have a DH, DW or small fluffy dog.
Unfortunately the DW seems to cost a lot more than she makes via putting all the savings in her name and using her credit searches for extra stoozing type opportuities.I think....0 -
I switched my telephone to Primus a few months ago, £6+ rental only, what I can't get my head around is that it appears to be cheaper to ring Gen in OZ than it is to ring one of my neighbours (in the day anyway), likewise with mobiles, am I missing something here?

Click on Primus saver on the right, then click on call charges.
Perhaps it's because during your daytime, Aussies are asleep.0 -
Well I nailed the interview today, I was brilliant: funny, professional and animated (even if I do say so myself). I've got a second interview tomorrow with the Big Boss and I should find out by the end of the week.0

Fashion wise you are of course correct, along with that 'slim fit/tailored rubbish and this seasons colours whereas I have reached a point in life where comfortable and practical are all that matters and if having a 'naff' pocket allows me to have my phone in it so that I can notice and respond to calls from the DW I save a lot more agro than I lose in cred. I assume even in your posh workplace mobiles not on silent is a no-no?
I also often have a cheap biro (bic not Mont blanc) in the pocket as well and have some short sleeve ones I wear in the summer
Edit: Can't be ars*d with cufflinks either.
Some of dh's bosses have expected his phone not to be on silent, so that he is not momentarily delayed in hearing their words of wisdom, and to have his personal mobile on too, in case for some reason the work phone is 'engaged' when a boss wants him. Some used to phone and check......on both lines.
Not that it's too quiet in the City or any thing......0 -

To a major extent it's not about what is fashionable, more what is "acceptable". I know several people who have got appraisal feedback that they need to dress more "professionally". If I wandered around with a pen in my top pocket I'd be given the hair drier by my departmental boss.
We aren't allowed our phones on at work- but it hardly matters as we are too high up to get reception anyway. I have two phone lines though so can be on the phone to my bank and the mrs at the same time...0 -

I think this is absolutely nail on the head about corporate dressing, and can be taken more widely about dressing for success.
The only thing I would say as a woman, is it can be very hard to have a professional shirt if you are big boobied. Now the rest of me is bigger it's not so hard, but finding something that lets you show no cleavage and doesn't gape at the buttons over yer tits if you are disproportionate is very difficult, the simplest solution is to leave the button you might want done up in a professional situation, undone.
I really hate the smart casual thing that dh's office does. It costs a fortune.0 -

You'll 'nail it' (fingers crossed) It must have been an interesting 'Journey' for you, these last few years?0 -
My missing boiler parts have arrived....hmm. Makes me think they were found at the office anyway and were not 'definitely' on site .
The nice lir is almost certainly not going to be on my building site today when dealing with heating people.0
