... £2k on stuff?? They'd be waiting a long time for me to get through that much! Job - rent/essential utilities = £300/month to live on, do stuff, buy stuff, go out, things, stuff ... etc. So can probably say £100 fags, £100 food, £20 pepsi ... leaving £80 for non-essentials like clothes, hair cuts, getting the car fixed, Xmas/pressies, shoes ... er ... stuff.

Hey Pastures have you ever had a credit card? here is a good one for you, cashback 3%, now you have a permy job :) Congrats btw, I hope it works out :T

Pocket? No, no, no, no, no! Pockets are only seen on short sleeves shirts worn by civil servants with a collection of pens on display.

I could do with some new shirts too. You have to wear white to work these days and some of them are looking a bit, well, off white.

Fashion wise you are of course correct, along with that 'slim fit/tailored rubbish and this seasons colours whereas I have reached a point in life where comfortable and practical are all that matters and if having a 'naff' pocket allows me to have my phone in it so that I can notice and respond to calls from the DW I save a lot more agro than I lose in cred. I assume even in your posh workplace mobiles not on silent is a no-no?

I also often have a cheap biro (bic not Mont blanc) in the pocket as well and have some short sleeve ones I wear in the summer :)

Edit: Can't be ars*d with cufflinks either.
    I think....

    There's your first posh alert!!!
Don't they have a minimum income of "quite a bit" to even get accepted??
I remember about 30 years ago it was £12k.

I'll admit to having seen an Amex card and having touched one - because I had a Saturday job in a jewellers so we'd see one of those per week in there.

I.got it when I was an undergrad. That was when you could count student loan, parental support etc as 'income' (and I earnt a bit in the hols too). Don't think they would allow that now ;) Can't remember how much the minimum income was but I just made it. Its not a posh Amex!

I make it work.for me... No annual fees, cashback and good offers. My card is,also very pretty and shiny (don't think you can apply for them any more).

I got that one too :) - £250 credit limit but managed to spend £1800 in Month 1, largest purchase £360. Only took me 3 months to max out the £100 annual cashback hence the new Amex.

Barclaycard have an interesting new cashback deal available too, 6% in the first 3 months, there is a trick where you purchase something from DW via paypal during month 2, pocket the cashback and then refund the purchase in month 4 (you have 60 days with paypal to cancel a transaction for a full fees refund)
    I think....

I had one once, to be honest.... issued by my bank, interest accumulated from the day you used it - so each time I paid off the full amount there was still some owing. I kept trying to pay it off .... but there was always some pennies.... so I then paid £1 in ... and was in credit by about 10p. They sent me statements for about a year saying I was in credit by 10p ... and then the statements stopped and I didn't get a new card sent :)

So I figured I don't really like cards.

3% ..... would pay a month's fags' bill over a year I guess :) but I'd have to be physically and mentally organised to remember to pay it off each month. I am not used to paying bills - my whole life's on DD. Just ONE slip up and all the month's cashback's wiped out, along with a large chunk of the following month's as they charge £12/slip up.

I'd rather have a DH that was financially useful :)
