    anyone else pleased it's friday?

Just annoyed that rain is due again at the weekend, I need to be out clearing and planting!!

It's really holding things up here. We have only been able to turn about a sixth of the new border, infront of the house where the hedge was (and has been replanted). There is no point when it's so wet and heavy, but it means we won't get it done til spring at this rate, missing a crucial time to get somethings I want to get out of pots in to the ground, and start getting it established.
The hunt have warned me they are in the area at the weekend, and my old girls and one other are in rugs, which means I have to mess around undressing them and cannot leave them to it for the days in case they get cold in the rain. Then they will spend the day running around, which may be all too much for the oldest girl, and churning up my grass to make mud.

I can see this water softener desire is going to be difficult.

The boiler is nowhere near the kitchen tap, so I don't know how we deliver it hard water.
The fridge has a water filter//cooler dispenser thing so that also needs hard water.
I understand the regulations mean that outside tap water can't be softened. We have an outside hot tap, so not sure how that will work!

    Doozer.....

Not sure if you will see this...but the boiler man's daughter sounds pretty much EXACtLY how you describe kiddo. No history of asthma, has a virus, had what appears to be asthma attack.

    Worrying.

Youngest off school today, on tenterhooks now as he has come down with a horrible cold and is wheezing badly already.

The coming down with a cold probably played a part with what happened yesterday because being unsettled, having a cold and autism do not go together too well. A cold with autism is not too bad if he is settled but add in the unsettled state and it becomes a volatile mix
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

That was the thing I used to hate about as a kid when visiting my aunt/cousins in Surrey. The water was rank and had to be diluted in orange juice for me to be able to drink it.

Even though we get cold, refreshing water with no after taste, I still either filter or boil before drinking.

Do you all use filter taps at the kitchen sink?

No, I sometimes use a Brita jug, but otherwise draw and leave to lose its weird taste.

No but the fridge has a filter on it for cold water and ice.

But we don't change the filter as often as recommended.:o

Looking at my kitchen lights, I have 13 (mad - not my design) lights on 1 switch. Mum's kitchen has all the lights bar one on one switch and a single light on the other switch. Much more sensible when you are just going in the kitchen to fetch something.

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to get one rewired onto its own switch?

A filter tap? What the blooming nora is one of those?

I just turn the tap on and drink, no gizmos, just plain water from the tap...although sometimes I will put it in a bottle and stick it in the fridge for that extra coldness.
That said, the tap water in Dorset was pretty eurgh, we used to get bottled water for drinking down there.

Edit - Text just in, middle son got a B in an end of unit physics assessment.

The water in Sydney is very good and very, very soft: I use tiny amounts of soap and shampoo here.

It tastes great too although not as good as the water in the Penines. The tap water in the Peak District is the best I've tasted anywhere ever and by a huge distance too. If I could only ever drink one thing again for the rest of my days (ignoring health, teeth brushing etc) I think that would be it. I think the water there is naturally very soft.

It will depend where the wires are but it might be simpler and cheaper to get another light put in with its own switch rather than rewiring an existing light.
