I went out ... and had to make a detour as a car was stuck right in the middle of a huge road flood. I'd already encountered many small road floods en-route, but this one went right across and was obviously deeper than the rest, as the car who was stuck in it discovered.

On my way back I drove through that flood.... it was about 20 metres/yards or so; towards the end I could feel the car losing some power, but I knew I had enough forward motion to make it to dry land again :)

    Tired, cold.

Yesterday rushed a coat of cheap white paint on the plaster. This afternoon have spent ages painting them back the colour of wet plaster. Surely this is a fruitless job? Tbh, gone of the colour now. It's sort of pink toned brown, and only chosen to soften the impact of the bright red boiler. (I am not keen on red in my home outside Christmas, I even resent the reddish dog fleeces.)

Meanwhile, dh and parent painted the loo ceiling dark blue, and parent is working on a wall in there now. The marriage of misty greeny greyish blueish with the dark blue ceiling is not harmonious. Hopefully once the stars are painted it will work better, and dh fancies a trompe l'oeil in there, and we already have something in mind.

We still have lots of walls decorates in 'bare plaster' colour and I find it really swallows the light. :(
    I think....

I don't mind the colour of bare plaster, it's soft and warm and snug. The rush to paint is infront of where things are being permanantly fitted...like the huge boiler.....getting behind it will be hard if not impossible in the future. I had not pictured it quite as...imposing as it is, so have had to rethink the green thing...because boiler red and soft green are not a marriage made in heaven.

Have you got a photo of the boiler?

My answer, as ever, is "paint it white... paint everything white, white's marvellous, can't go wrong with white - even if that's because it's at least a good basecoat for any other colour if you change your mind"

I did white as a base coat. Aiui it's OT the best base coat but it is the cheapest. In fact, I think I have bought more than I need, so if and when you buy I might have some pure white to give you. :)

White is a night mare in a utility where dogs might sleep :D but also,I think I would find white behind red too 'visually noisy'.

But the thing with white is the dogs won't make any more mess than they would with any other colour.... but it's easy to have one tin/brush and to touch it up when you're passing :)

Absolutely, but I clean dog walls twice a week normally. If I had white it would be four plus times a day....no good at all for sanity!

I am all for being aware that dirt is there and cleaning, but there really are lifestyles white doesn't suit.

Besides, I don't like white in British light in winter.:D

Guess ... who ..... just got an indian :)
I ate it OK, but washing up meant clearing somebody else's salad items/prep out of the way first.... slovenly is the only word. Well, no, I could come up with a list of words ... but slovenly will have to do for now. Oh, and I'll bung in a quick "selfish" too.... slovenly and selfish. Probably key traits of narcissists.
