The only downer is I think I managed to get sunburnt mowing the lawn this afternoon. I really have got to stop getting burned because it is very bad for you and viva will get cross. I just don't like sunscreen but then I prefer it to cancer which is generally the choice over here.
I don't like sun screen either, so I cover up on hols and on the odd day the sun shines on Hampshire - usually a linen shirt over swimwear or same or a thin cardi over sleeveless clothes. I do wear a wide brimmed hat .
The hats make me look like one of the mushrooms from Fantasia, and the linen quickly takes on a crumpled look. So I admit it is not glamourous.
I think I have just talked myself into using sunscreen from herein.0 -

Nah, I don't do cross unless it involves DH. Sometimes if it is very hot I find it better to cover up with a light shirt than use sunscreen as you don't feel like you have a film on your skin. Cotton does not have a very high SPF but I've never been burned through it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Any one got snow? My parent in absenTia has deep snow, and I was relieved we did not. I love snow so much, but we have enough to content with ATM. We had thunder and lighting this morning and heavy, heavy rain.
Just aboput to take some photos for nice builder and architect , because we are about to flood and they will need to see how/why....then I went up to my knees in quicksand type mud and then the sleet started. Dh and I were laughing so much we could barely haul me out.0 -
No snow here but heavy rain for several hours now. Looks truly grotty out, I'm glad I went out yesterday and did everything so have the luxury of being able to stay indoors. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I wore one of those 'tradies' shirts with an SPF of 50 and a hat. The trouble is the face and neck: in an hour working mostly in the shade is enough that I can feel the skin is tight and warm.
A rub with a leaf from our aloe Vera plant will sort it out.0 -
Well Mrs Generali is back to find the kids happy and well and Chez Generali cleaner and tidier than when she left. I even cleaned the bathrooms! I'm very pleased with myself.
Whole beef fillets were on special at the local grocers so we've got that for dinner which will mean lots of yummy beef salads to take to work this week too.

Ha - you fell straight in to the trap - in 'proving 'how well you can manage without her you have just landed yourself a whole new set of jobs...Brallaqueen wrote: »Great find! Interesting questions and I liked the diversity of the answers in 'choose another stance' option. So many issues, for me, that were not yes/no
Darn - I assumed that 'chose another stance' would just put me in a 'this question has not been included' situation, will have to do the quiz again now I know that I am not restricted to the black and white answers supplied. I still can't understand how come I am so 'left wing' although of course what is left wing in the US is slightly to the right of the European consensus position.vivatifosi wrote: »No snow here but heavy rain for several hours now. My PM box has space now.I think....0 -

Fair point, as a woman I always wear moisturiser on my face and neck which is SPF 15. Not 50, but it is a lot better than nothing. I'm jealous of you having your own aloe vera plant though. It's amazing how it can be in the 30s out but you can break a bit off and it feels cool. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Actually I've done ok. I've had a bit of a thing about going to Broken Hill for a while. There's a train that goes there on a Monday and comes back on a Tuesday which I'm going to do as a result of my excellent work.
Sitting in a big comfy seat with no email or mobile phone to bother me sounds wonderful. I'll take a big stack of books and some cheese.0 -

The aloe Vera is the 3rd most amazing medicinal plant in the world after the poppy and dock.
Aloe vera would probably do ok indoors in the UK. I can't imagine it being frost tolerant although it might be as it seems to thrive inland in NSW. Perhaps it's just the hot summers it likes.0
