Lydia, I meant I have not met her person, rofl.
And plan to keep it that way as long as possible. I just cannot imagine a situation where we would have to meet tbh.0 -

However you also have parents who - unlike when I was young and caught everything except chickenpox - still take their kids out when they are ill so that other children catch everything. I can remember as a child being kept indoors whenever I was ill so that I couldn't infect my kids. These days I see a lot of parents out with kids who are sick, including recently one with mumps.
Don't you remember mumps parties?
They tried to get us to catch all that stuff when we were young, so that it was out of the way, especially mumps, which causes adult men so much more discomfort.

My wedding was expensive, I think. It followed the rule "he who pays the piper calls the tune". My parents organised everything and paid for it. The first time we saw the invites was when we received ours. We were young and just did what we were told, we just wanted to get married and didn't care/ trusted them with the detail.
Length of time from being in a relationship to wedding - just over 3 years.
Mine too. It was 20 years ago. We paid for the bulk of the costs ourselves, but my parents paid for the reception. We were together 2 1/2 years beforehand. Have been married 20 years now.
To this day I can't believe how much I spend on my dress. I saw something I liked, but wasn't perfect, redesigned it to my spec and had hand embroidered silk directly imported from Thailand for the detailing. I blame it on the fact that I wasn't long out of the eighties and still getting over my yuppie phase. I had a white leather briefcase back then too. I blame that on Miami Vice. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sorry lir, but that did make me laugh. Possibly because I can sooo see you doing that. I'm glad you're now making salad dressing though:).Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Just not typing the sentence from one viewpoint.
Could be 110% wrong though
Yep, wrong. Step mil in fir step mother, but I haven't met her. I have resisted all summons to NYC to see her ( and always will, even if we moved there). She has been beastly to dh, unforgivable to me on the ohone and via email and I have met her daughter who is a vacant headed, egotistical and selfish young woman (not so young now I guess).0 -

No, I really don't. I wonder if the advice changed over time. I had chickenpox as an adult and that was awful so I can see the logic, but I do think its sad that vaccination is not an option.
Speaking of which, TB is on the way back. Is that being vaccinated for again? Do BCGs last for life? I ask as from time to time I get to meet people with it:eek:.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I have not had rubella vaccine...missed it at school. When I got I'll the private go said...when you are better you will have this....then, um, I never did. When I am near doctors I am too unwell and when I don't feel bad sometimes I am still not 'well' enough and so we thought back then that if I got pregnant I would just have to live in a sort of quarantine and stay hyper alert.
I wonder now if there is still any point in having the vaccine. After all, it doesn't sound like rubella is a barrel of laughs. I wonder if I would be able to have it now? I feel ok.0 -

Had two uncles die of TB when they were children (in the 30s I beleive), all too common in those days.:(

I'm sure there werer chickenpox parties dunno about mumps. I notice that in the US you can't bring your kids to school to infect others if they're not vaccinated. Joined-up thinking if you ask me.

Dh has no vaccination record, and his mother never told him and it's not on medical notes here or in Italy so we don't know what childhood illness or vaccinations he had. He went to school for a short while on two separate occasions in US ...does this mean he is definitely vaccinated?0
