Sunshine. For your 10 year old daughter why not try these ones.1. A girly day shopping. 2. A girly lunch (dress up in you good dresses etc) could be sometign as simple as a picninc 3. Why not give her a mini makeover 4. A trip to the cinema to see a movie of her choice. 5. Baking day (again make tings fo her choice 6. Movie cuddles (pair of you sat down quietly watchign a movie togehter. 7. Craft time. 8. Trip to the local park for the afternoon. just a few suggestions but i dont ave a daughter so im only guessing
That's what I was going to suggest too :T but was going to add, that if you are a bit strapped for cash to add a month to each voucher, that way you can spread some of the costs over the year, especially if you know one month will be worse/better than another......................AND she has a pressie that lasts all year ;);)

  • Greetings!

    Rosieben - I've pm'd you x

SammyKaye - thank you - your ideas are really great especially as I know sometimes my DD really needs to have that special "alone" time with me. Last week she asked me to wake her up extra early before I left for work - when I asked her why she wanted to be up so early (as she wasnt busying herself getting ready for school) she said that she just wanted to see me before I went to work :o (gulp!).

I believe these vouchers will be especially meaningful and am so glad that this thread is here :j

P.S. Savvy - thanks for that idea too - what a lovely idea to make a present last a whole year through! x

Ah thinking of place cards, I saw someone somewhere (may've been on this thread, can't remember, have an alcohol fogged brain today!), personalised candles with their name on, would look lovely lit for the meal, AND they can take it home and remember the meal every time they light it. The woman I read about put silver lettering on them, but you could also add something thats special to each one of your guests, you can get some really cool stickers now days of almost all past times/interests

Savvy I love that idea, thanks. I'll be on the lookout for some pretty candles to use for this. Be nice to get different colours for each one - my dgd is sooooo into pink!! :D

  • thanks sunny...I've been looking for something similar and couldnt find the ones I used last year.
  • I'm thinking of doing some customised (!) place cards, but other than that I'm a bit stuck for ideas this year.

(forgive me - I dont know how to do the "Quote" bit that picks up parts of a previous message :o !)

    Hi Rosieben

I noticed some place settings in the N*xt (I dont know if I can actually say it!) Directory. They were small gold baubles with a curly piece of wire sticking out of the top which held the name card - I thought they were quite unusual and pretty. Obviously depending on what colour scheme you like to have you could perhaps match the baubles to that.

Another idea is to put an individual box of hugs at each place setting - just tie a ribbon around the box and pop this poem on:

This is a very special gift, that you can never see.
The reason it's so special is it's just for You from Me.
Whenever you are lonely or are ever feeling blue.
You only have to hold this gift and know I'm hugging you.
You never can unwrap it, please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart it's filled with hugs inside

Thanks for those ideas Sunshine, I love the hug in a box idea, and I will be looking at the next directory for the place settings, though would probably make them myself as money is so tight. ;)

  • Afternoon ... no sorry, scrap that - good evening - have I really spent most of the afternoon reading various Christmas threads! Mind you, it was a nice break in between doing the ironing!:snow_grin

Rosieben, I had just meant to suggest having a look at the baubles to see whether you could use that idea to copy - not to just buy them (I wish I could myself - make, or buy them, that is!).

Well, it's just been decided that Mum is going to come to us this year - yey - that means lots more preparation and excitement ahead :xmastree:

Another idea I have had is to prepare a cd with all the songs that remind me of a particular person (i.e. OH, Mum, Sis) and take them on a trip down memory lane that way. I was going to do an "index" and write (type!) next to it why that song reminded me of them. Has anyone done anything similar before?

Hi Sunshine38. It's quite easy (even I can do it ;)). Just click on the "Quote" button on the bottom right of the post you want to reply to, and you will get a page with the original post on it. You can enter your reply after the /quote (in brackets) which appears at the end of the post. You can also edit the original post if say you want to delete any text that is not relevant to your reply, like wot I've done to yours.

:j Ahhh, so THAT's what that button is for - just testing on you to see whether I've done it right!

    Thank you so much :T
