is anyone else really looking forward to when the shops start getting their xmas stock instore i cant wait to look at all the pressies, lights crackers and food. And harrods christmas store has already opened i would love to visit it!
I love it when the shops get their Christmas stuff in!!:T Living in London, we always go to have a look in Harrods (although we don't buy anything!:p), and Selfridges, Liberty and Fortnum & Mason also have some beautiful things to look at (and are normally open by mid-September for me to get my "fix"!:rotfl:).
However, I love it best when they are the exception to the rule...by November when every shop on the high street is covered in tinsel and belting out Christmas music, I feel like tine that it is all too commercialised and I prefer not to be dragging round the shops for hours on end with everybody else!
Even though I am a "shop through the year when I see it" person, I always have a fair few pressies left to get by December, so another thing I always do is amass a huge pile of Christmas catalogues (Boots, WHSmith, M&S, John Lewis, Superdrug, Asda gift guide, several charity ones which arrive through the post because I've bought from them before - any, really!) - Mr P used to think I was mad at first, but since I tend to "shop in my head" first for these last few gifts, then make a list of what I want and go out and get them (after researching the cheapest place to get them!;)). Now, he realises how happy and quiet it can keep me, just spending an evening surrounded by catalogues with a pen and paper, plus the time spent dragging him round the shops is kept to a minimum, he is fully supportive of my habit (he's even been known to pick them up if he sees one I haven't got...awwww, bless him!!:A).

I love xmas...but not for the shop's...as they are horrendous at xmas time...I know exactly what I want...I never go off the beaten track...the only place I do like going is the garden centre as they have real reindeer and a santa and it's just goss...it's xmas...with mince pie's and cream and ginger wine...that warm's you up when it's freezing...so nice and xmasy...as I tend to shop online most of the time....but I remember once getting load's of card's from my family with IOU's in them...then on boxing day they would go shopping...then on new year's eve they would spend all day going round people's house's with the pressie's and having one for the road...falling all over the place...cos they'd had one to many...and mum would put on a buffet so that who ever called could have something to eat and soak up some of that booze...it was kinda weird cos apart from the present's I'd bought for my son the rest of the family turned up aweek later so it was kinda weird...xmas is xmas not new year ...anyway they didn't do it again...I am a firm believer that if you want something then go to the sale's and get it...but not xmas present's...!!!!!!...it's not xmas without present's...and I love putting the tree up and all the deco's...listening and humming to christmas music...and the smell from xmas eve to xmas night of thing's cooking...priceless...:D

Hi Christmas fans! 19 weeks today apparently and I'm nearly there! Well family and DH still to get, but Ellidee (hope you went through quidco to get some cashback!) has given me a good idea for him, with DVDs, so hopefully my HMV voucher from test & vote will come through soon for me to use that! Am still kicking myself about not getting pigsback bootsvouchers sooner, so I could use them in the summer sale, but I suppose it's all part of learning to plan ahead and so I will know for next year, so cash my points in in July so I can use them in August!
In terms of hampers, I was in Thing-Me-Bobs yesterday (don't know whether they're a national chain), but they were selling small colourful plastic buckets and baskets in packs of 3 for 99p, which I thought was very good if what you want in your hamper is quite small!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109

for all those making hampers I thought i would direct you to the truprint website and a posting on the discount and vouchers forum. Apparently with a code you can get a free photomug and just pay £1.99. I think it sounds a great idea - especially for grandparents etc.
hope this helps someone. I'm desperately trying to rack my brains as to who I can get one for!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
:xmassign: i know christmas is coming but i think my local radio station are bit premature....on way to work last night they played that song " keeping the dream alive" can't remember who sung it but i know its def a song that is associated with xmas...Bring back mark and lard NOW! or else (please) clique member no. 10 :j
