I will NOT go to Boots - I will not! Everytime I go I spend more money! I have more presents than I knwo what to do with but they were "a bargain" ;) it 75% off or down to 1/3 their original price (won't buy them otherwise!) so I have to resist any Boots offers at thhe moment. Have over £30 worth of Boots points at the moment though so might save them till Christmas to spoil myself :)

Whittards have their hot chocolate powder (all types) reduced to half price at the moment - if you know anyone who is a chocaholic they might like that! I think they are down to £2.50.

welcome newbies who i havent welcomed yet!!!!............................................................ANNAANGELUK - Rag garlands are exactly that basically. Get any spare material you have - depending on decorating style i guess (im using all white as i have lots of spare material) and cut it into strips say half and inch to an inch wide and about 3 inches long so basically you have lots of little strips of rags/material. Next get a length of material (this depends how long you want the garland to be so what ever you plan to hang it from or put it round etc) or twine etc and make a knot at each end. Then start knotting the strips of material around the length of material you have. Eventually you will end up with the whole length covered in rags and it looks very effective and warm - you can make it in any colour and a nice alternative ive heard is to use a string of christmas lights insteadof a length of material/twine as they will then light up adn look very effective on a mantelpiece etc.

  • Hello to all our new friends, especially Nikflo who is doing very well to be so prepared for what may be a difficult Christmas. Although I only ever pinch everyone's ideas and don't have any of my own to give out, I am sure you will find alot of support in us.

Going to hopefully get the last part of one of mum's main gifts tomorrow and will aim to complete that this weekend since I am back to being a football widow! Will also pop into Boots and see if I can pick anything up using my Pigsback voucher.

love you all lots, night night
I got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down

I spent £50 the week before last and got 4 ladies presents. I've got them all some lovely La Senza pyjamas and slippers. I think I could have spent less but DH always worries that we look mean come christmas because I make no secret of the fact that I buy early.
I have to get the mens pressies now and one for MIL.

You'll laugh at this, I read that someone had got the river cottage dvd from HMV so I went a looking for it and couldn't find it initially so clicked on the adult dvd section to be greeted by a message saying "SMUTT coming up!" (Or words to that effect). I think I'm a little naiive sometimes- Doh!

Hi All, welcome arlybarly - hope you enjoy the thread. Kaz - i dont hide the fact that ive brouht early either - i think my early shopping is paying off to and rubbing off on my mother in law who is starting her christmas shopping this weekend...............................................................................EVERYONE I have a question - Ive made my sister a pamper hamper ie smellies, choccies, wine etc but recently she has been saying how she doesnt have alot of cooking things liek casserole dishes, bakign trays, tins etc - so i was wonderign if you think it is ok to give kitchen things as a christmas gift. Dont get me wrong im not planning on just giving her a casserole dish - i was thinking of getting her a few bits and pieces, boxing them up and getting her a 'basics cooking skills' book or something because the last phonecall - i kid you not - was her ringing me to ask how to boil an egg so it was soft in teh middle - come to find out she'd been trying to make her bf a 'dippy egg' and had so far managed to hard boil 8 in the process - doh!!! what do you guys think?? any ideas??? The thinking was if i did this (need ideas of other bits i could add) then i could give the pamper hamper id made for her to my mother in law or sister in law adn thereby one less gift to get.

If she would appreciate cook/bakeware then I think thats a great idea especially as there are some really pretty items around at the mo. Not sure what she likes but those pastel blue/cream/pink items are fab! Maybe you could combine with some food items say a lovely colander and add pasta and oil for a italina cookware/food type hamper? You could have endeless opportunties. Try Superdrug for those pastel kitchen items, TKMaxx, Woolies, they all have some great bits at better prices than some of department stores.
