Could get a Gordon Ramsey BHS one for a quid but the five months past its date is worrying me a bit. So the moral is tell Gordon to get lost and make your own, with plenty of alcohol of course. Hic!!

I wouldn't know where to start Mike
Suppose Saint Delia would have a decent recipe (not into the Nigella method of trying to look sexy when cooking)
Will give Gordon a go this year, then get the stuff to make one for 2008 when the supermarkets reduce their Christmas stuff (saves me buying a mould (sp?)
Is ginger wine ok to stick in a pudding or cake mix (one measure for the cake, three measures for the cook!)
Problem with shop made cakes and puddings is that there is never enough glace cherries and far too much candied peelDebt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
Afraid im not a fan of the traditional christmas puds - a nut allergy ruined that for me one year!! adn then discovered i was allergic to cherries so either way its a no form me. Our pudding tends to be a homemade victoria sponge cake with plenty of custard - my little families never complained and they love it!Time to find me again0

– at Christmas this year. Going to make our pudding soon, in a week or two, and as the cake, the pudding will also be a Delia recipe! With plenty of cherries of course!

Sorry, can't do links but if you go to the Freebies board, there is a link to Filmflex where you can order a limited edition Filmflex Top Trumps set. Would be something nice to add to a movie hamper for any age I would have thought. HTH Says it is 28 days delivery so plenty of time - if it arrives!!!!0

Haven't had it since though. May try it again sometime.

Mmmmmm cake.... OK so I'm not a christmas pud fan... I wasn't brought up in the UK and these heavy cakes are not something I can eat easily... I usually opt for a small but expensive christmas cake for those who want it and danish rice pudding - this can be served hot, or you can make it into ris a la mande and serve it cold with hot cherry sauce over it. When served cold it's lovely after a large christmas meal!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Went on a trip into the Highlands at the weekend and stopped at Callander for a late breakfast on the way:cool: .They have a beautiful little christmas shop called The Nutcracker,I just couldn,t help myself, spent about an hour in there just looking:D .The stuff was really expensive but it really put me in the right mood.I got loads of ideas for cute xmas tree decorations too, will start making some soon:D .
Does anyone else have nightmares about forgetting about christmas:eek: .I have been having them since March at least this year:o .They started with my forgetting about the day altogether, the worst bit is the kids have no presents:eek: .Is this just my brains way of reminding me to be more prepared this year?.I started my own business in April and now have 2 going at the same time.I know I will be really busy at christmas but surely not so busy that I don,t have time to buy my own kids presents.
I woke up at 4am this morning in a panic, got out a notepad and pen and wrote my christmas list for the kids.Maybe I will sleep better tonight as a result.;)"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Funny family story that gets told every Christmas...
One Christmas Eve years and years ago when me and my brothers were toddlers my mum and dad went out, while my gran babysat us.
By the time mum and dad got home we were all fast asleep waiting on Santa, gran was ready to be driven home by mum, and dad was rolling around drunk! Mum tells us every year how she drove gran home, then when she got back dad had been so drunk he'd locked the door, gone to bed and was in a seasonal booze induced coma practically. Mum says she was locked outside in the freezing cold for almost an hour screaming through the letter box for him to wake up. She said she started crying hysterically because none of our presents had been laid out yet and we were still so young that we'd get up at like 4.30 am on Christmas morning. She thought "My poor kids are gonna stop believing in Santa because their bloody dad is trollied!" Anyway, eventually she got in to lay out all out presents and Christmas was saved.
Feeling very Christmassy myself at the moment, going to try and do ALL my shopping online this year, except one idea but will go into that more if it all comes together.
Hope you are all well, xxxI got food in my belly and a license for my telly
And nothing's going to bring me down0 -

What a story,a nightmare for poor mum, glad it worked out though and hope dad had a hangover;)
Regards online shopping for christmas,I did almost all of my shopping for christmas online last year and I have to say I found it made christmas so much more enjoyable, easier and cheaper. You are not tempted as much to overspend as you might in a store and can always find the best deals and extra discount vouchers online too:cool: .
I held back some cash and still did a bit of shopping a couple of days before christmas too when everything gets reduced to silly money:D .
The benefit of getting it over with the easy way is that you can then go into town and really enjoy all the other things that go with christmas shopping without the queues and the fighting for the last Nintendog on the planet ,or whatever the current years understocked fad happens to be:rotfl: .
You get to stop and enjoy the choirs and the brass bands, drink some mulled wine and hot doughnuts or chestnuts while you watch street performers and generally be glad, and probably a bit smug too:p , that you are not one of the stressed out mob this year:D.
