  • No probs Rosie, this flipping dissertation means I have to be really frugal with my on-line time anyways so there's no rush on my part.

    XMAS IS COMING!!yupi3ti.gif

I love xmas and can't wait!
I'm eager to get my deccys up but I must hold back til at least 1st Dec:rotfl:
I have most of my presents sorted already, if I haven't already bought them I know what I'm getting.

In MSE style I've tried to get gifts as cheaply as possible.
My brother is developing a skill for cooking so I've bought him a spice rack with 12 spices from lidls (£7) and I'm writing him a little recipe book of his fave meals to go with it.
My mum is getting an Asda xmas savers card, with £100 on it, I started this for her last year and put £2 on it each week. I'm going to either put it in a huge box, or like a russian doll put it in smaller and smaller boxes that she will be unwrapping for ages:rotfl:

Ooooh I can't wait til santa comes!

  • looking for an all-in-one printer for my son for xmas, compared tesco online and argos online, then checked reviews before deciding on an hp photosmart on special offer at argos. arrived at argos and had forgotten which printer i wanted so checked their sales leaflet. only one hp printer on offer and it was out of stock! re-checked the catalogue and found the printer i wanted, hp c3180, but at £79.99. typed in the number and it came up at the price i'd seen online, £39.99. plenty in stock! that's both kids sorted now- i bought a digital camera for my daughter last week for £25, following a link from this website - thanks martin!

well, been a while since I posted on this thread, but getting there slowly:

here is my list so far:

    1. sister and bil - bought them a mirror (they chose) for their new flat. was reduced from £100 to £39 in TK Maxx. They got it at the weekend and so I have some chocs and smellies for them to open 'on the day' as well

    2. little sis - money (for driving lessons) and smellies

    3. My mum - emma bridgewater pottery bought in the summer sales. SHould have been £100 approx, spent £40

    4. Mil - denby teapot and matching 2 mugs. Should have been £80, but got in TK maxx for £32!!!

    5. Granny - silver photoframe and wedding photo and chocs

    6. Granny and Grandad - silver photo frame and chocs hamper

    7. Gran and Grandpa - silver photoframe and chocs hamper

    8. godson - PJ's reduced from £12 to £4 in M&S sale in the summer and matching bowl and mug from emma bridgewater reduced from £30 to £10 in summer sale.

    still to get -

    1. My dad - have a guide book for his next trip abroad, but need something else

    2. OH's dad - no idea!

    3. Sis in law - no idea!

    4. sis in law and partner - was going to be a housey hamper gift, but she has to move to London for 6 months away from partner so doesn't seem such a good idea anymore.

How is everyone else getting on. I have to be ready by end Nov, but feeling like i am winning!

  • I think i'm almost done too.... although i always find a reason to buy more or a real 'bargain'!

So far.... I have got my three kids sorted, i got a spread sheet from someone on here a few months ago and its been invaluable! I can write what i've bought, what i've saved, total cost and more! Will put it to use this year!!!! So i dont think i need to get them anything more.

I have 3 step sisters and 2 step brothers who i never see (and to be honest i dont get on with) but still feel obliged to get them and the kids something (totally pointless!) but i would be the black sheep of the family if i hinted not to give each other presents! So it will be token gifts and i think i have them sorted too.

I have made up a cinema hamper to give to a close friend and son. I hope they enjoy it and the time they spend together using it.

I have another friend.... more difficult, she is very materialistic (SP?) and i feel obliged to spend a fortune on her and her family. I have bought her an expensive perfume set but really struggling for the rest of them.

Another friend... totally opposite! She doesnt want anything expensive, i have done her a hamper that has cost me about £10 but total RRP is about £40 and i know she will be upset at that. We set a budget for prezzies to £5 but she is a good friend but i understand where she is coming from. So dont know if i should give it to her.... oh decisions!

My OH doesnt want anything apart from us to be debt free. I find this endearing but he HAS to have something to open on Xmas day. I would feel awful if he didnt have anything to open, He even bought my ex-husband a £40 gift, yet he doesnt want anything????????????

Gosh i have a weird family situation!

    Roll on xmas! :0)
