  • I just took a guess and checked with the red scanners before i went and bought them. The things on the clip strips (the dangly down things in the aisle) tend to go down like that as I think the SA forget about them.

Just seen this list of Tesco's 1p deals on hukd.

Would question the Air dock as its £159 or thereabouts
  • Quick question~I'm a foreigner visiting and working in your country~why does it seem like one has to sneak these price glitches through the check out? It is obviously the store's mistake, why wouldn't they honor the prices that their own machines have generated? Who is a SA to have a say whether the price is accepted or not, if it's in the computer? I would appreciate a culture lesson so I don't make a fool of myself and buy everything on the lists!

After receiving my weekly email this week I went along to Tesco to look for some cheapie hair starighteners. Imagine my delight when the pink babyliss straighteners came up at 1p. The horrified self service supervisor said "we cant sell them to you for a penny" and leaned over the cancel the transaction. When I protested, she reluctantly called a manager who said these were old stock that were to be binned and it was my call to say what I would pay. When I offered a penny, he said they couldn't sell them for that. I phoned Customer Services Head Office after I left the store who apologised profusely and said they would put a £20 gift voucher in the post and speak to Boston store. I felt so humilated I will never go in a Tesco again (other than to spend the gift card.....). Why can't these stores get their prices right? £20 will not buy me hair straighteners.

Morning, just wondering, where are the 1p bargains, are they all in one place or scattered around the store. I'm just going to Monkspath, Solihull, has anyone seen any good deals there? Thanks.

I was in last weekend. the only thing I found were the ES flutes. I went through a manned till and got stopped by the male cashier who said they'd been told they weren't allowed to sell 1p items. I showed him the print screen of the comment on Tesco Facebook along the lines of "whilst the staff are meant to remove the items reduced to 1p, if they miss them and the customer finds them it is their policy to allow the transaction".

He called the supervisor and she backed the cashiers comments. I argued as to why the Facebook customer services said differently to which she said it was a social network site and they hadn't been told by head office to allow the transaction to proceed.

I argued that even though it was a social network site unless she was saying it wasn't run by Tesco themselves then it didn't matter to me whether they'd had a memo. I was taking the Facebook message from Customer Services as a Policy.

I said could they contact HO, so off we trotted to Customer Services where the male assistant manning that till rang HO for me, I spoke to HO assistant, told them what literature I had and that the store were implying facebook Tesco was nothing to do with them. She spoke to customer services assistant who argued but upshot was he rang up my 10 ES flutes and I paid 10p

I'm not good at going through self service as it would be OK if you could ring up multiples like 10 x and scan barcode. Its much too slow scanning individually.
    The end is nigh
  • I found the pack of 12 paper mate pencils for a penny, but the SA said that she couldn't sell them for that price :( Was made to feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed as she scooped them all up off the conveyor... I know it's only pencils but with 4 kids they would've come in very handy!! I'm not at all impressed with how I was treated :( Disappointed.

I think Tesco have scored a real own goal here. There are a lot of unhappy forumites.

Do these bargains work with an online shop? I was thinking I could do this for the bits I might want and if they come up full price simply return them to the delivery driver.
