Hi there!
I've just bought a new PS3 this week and i wanted to ask of any recommendations for a really good HDMI cable for that near-perfect sound & picture quality?
Does the cable need to be gold-plated and all those fancy technical giberish terms that you feel makes it stand-out?
Please advice.

There's a HUGE posting on here about "reasonably priced" HDMI cables from a well known High Street shop.0

Gold plated makes no difference... the signal is digital!
The signal is one and zeros... it will send the data or not... thus negating need for gold.
Also quality of gold is dubious and the only real bonus is probably lack of corrosion. Kept dry and away from saltyour not gonna have major issues.
Gold plated is a con for digital transmission in short.0 -
I don't usually go for the common PCWorld/Argos/Poundstores/Supermarket-type of cables. I just thought being "gold-plated" means there has to be some kind of advantage.
And i have heard QED HDMI cables have a very good reputation on the things.
Any more good makes out there?0 -

For HDMI cables that is your loss of money.
Buy this one, when you get it plug it in if you see a picture on the TV that means it works, you can then rest safe in the knowledge you will not get any better picture or audio quality between that cable and one that costs £200.
Of course if you had have read the HDMI cable thread you would have known this already.0 -
I have just bought one from Currys for £35. The assistant said you can buy the £6 one and like other people your bring it back as it is rubbish. As I have read on other forums you only get what you pay for.0

You got ripped off, let's put it this way, if I spent £100,000 on a bespoke home cinema setup I would have absolutely no qualms using a cheap £1.50 2m HDMI cable, that is how pointless it is spending money on expensive HDMI cables.
The cynic in me says that Currys will sell an obviously very poor quality cheaper cable and one hugely inflated expensive cable, just so they can feed that line to their customers.
I'm sorry to be harsh but people have to learn, apart from a tiny little bit better build quality (ie tougher plastics) there is no benefit to buying expensive HDMI cables. This is Money Saving Expert after all0 -
Poundland HDMI cables are perfectly good. You occasionally get faulty ones, but you do with the more expensive ones anyway. At least if you try a Poundland one and do not like the quality you only use £1.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
