Well now... a very good afternoon to you all!!! ( shhhhhh Siouxsie is still sleeping...)

I feel my own, personal, important thread has been cast to the way-side somewhat with balancing information for NOvember and initiating rites for DDD, so I shall be attempting to be more vigilant in my upkeep on this thread...

I was reading my diary the yesterday, although not so much a diary as a notebook whereby all my thoughts come out, get straightened, re-jigged and formalized.. It cost a friend of mine £25 from Selfridges in London and is bright, neon pink. From a company called Under Cover...(http://www.undercoveruk.com/).. link added in case you are interested..

I find writing is my niche, I love it and could sit and do it all day, but who will pay me..? However I find sometimes I think so much I need to write so I invest, or am sometimes lucky to have someone invest for me, in a beautiful diary or notebook. I am also in love with pens, fountains pens especially. I have a pink Lamy and a very heavy ornate fountain pen I bought in Venice for £30... I have plans for more but never travel far without a writing implement and notebook..

So I sat briefly before my meeting commenced last night and read a little of what I have written around April time before any notion of MSE has entered my NSK head...it surprised me.. the term "onwards and upwards" was coined in these few pages yet I don't remember writing this...

I had ( In April ) just beaten my way out of 10 months of sheer hell, with my flatmate going mental on me and deciding to move out, having to move myself out of my own home where I'd been for 3 years over NYE, securing a very expensive loan for a motorbike because I ignored my life long mantra learned from the Master Commander himself :money:.."if you don't have the money, don't spend it".. splitting with my boyfriend a month after his return from Afghanistan, falling in love with someone else shortly thereafter who decided he didn't want me, nearly killing a silly pedestrian who walked out in front of my bike without looking, losing a "friend" who I should have known better than to trust and realizing I was sleep walking through life.....

I sat with my diary and focused on what I actually "wanted" - not what I thought I should want.. I am not one to be depressed about bad turns but thoroughly believe things happen for a reason and my goodness did they ever!! I turned upwards, switched on, started to write and refocused my goals...

A quote from my diary.... "One cannot push forward toward the greater good whilst worrying about frivolity and the conscious pain that comes with it....for every penny spent on magazines, expensive food, train tickets not booked early, clothes, gifts for other people, books or shoes... I am missing the opportunity to travel and see girlfriends abroad, eating "out" with friends, and buying items that will last..what I have in abundance though is determination and I will work to get what I want even if it means never going out, sticking to cinema visits only for entertainment, eating on the cheap.... so this determination needs to be visualized, to be written down and viewed from above in order to see what the holes are that are letting money out...I will not be driftwood, I will take control...It takes courage to realize you are struggling but I will turn onwards and upwards...."

Wowzers... if that doesn't bore you I don't know what will... However I feel very strongly about this and what I wish to do in 2013. I intend to sit with a very large pot of tea and write... plot and scheme my desires. Then put into action exactly what it takes to get them...

What do you plan for 2013...?

    Onwards and Upwards...

  • Kat you are such an inspiration! I don't often have the time to post anything but just reading what you write is a real uplift for me and reinforces the need to tackle debts and move forward with life.

  • Hello everyone! Sorry ive not been around this week, its been a mega busy week at work and i've not been feeling too well either (a cold, nothing serious, but annoying!)

Payday was last Friday so all my bills are paid up for the month, i'm not sure how much i've got left until next payday though as DH lost his bank card and has been using mine, plus spent £73 for his friend for a football ticket (madness!), though he is paying all this back to me tomorrow as its his payday! His mum will also be paying me £64 for the coat that I bought on her behalf for his bday pressie so once all thats in I will know where I stand!

I had a meeting at my second job tonight to discuss the redundancies, bit of a waste of time really. We are being taken over by the 111 system - i'm sure you will all get to hear about it sooner or later as its taking over NHS Direct, plus all the Out of Hours Doctors over the country. It is supposed to be 'going live' on 1 April, but from what I hear there are not enough staff to run it. I asked them what there contingency plan was - there isnt one as there are no two ways about it, they HAVE to be ready!!! We will wait and see!! Heres hoping they are begging for us to stay on!!!

On the upside I have two hours overtime from my main job on Monday next week so that all helps.

My sister in law and her husband have given us all their things to sell on Ebay as her hubby is out of work and they are finding it a struggle now, especially with 4 children aged 12-18! They have said we can have 20% of whatever we make, I would be happy just to have the fee's paid but they insisted. We are selling mostly football boots as two of their boys play for Crystal Palace and get them free from sponsorship (yes you heard it here first!!) so its likely they will go for decent money. Also all their Playstation games, i cant believe how many they have, they must have cost a bomb as they are about £40 each new! I think I might try the games on Facebook instead.

So on another note, I have worked out how much money I need to clear before I can realistically have another baby, its about £8300 (exact figures on my spreadsheet at work) so that is what i'm aiming for!! To clear it the quickest I will need a new second job when mine goes next April, so fingers crossed the other call centre will come off or else it will be care or cleaning work I expect. When I have a spare 5 minutes I will work out the quickest way to pay it all off!! Nearly all of that is on 0% cards, plus a £1475 OD which really annoys me as I pay about £20 interest on it a month but obviously never goes down as i'm permanently in it so that is a wasted £20! Any Ebay or Facebook sales will also go into the baby fund too! Any other ideas greatly appreciated!

  • MLA... I am SO glad you are calculating and re-calculating. Its always good to know where we could be and plan accordingly. And what better thing to plan for than a new bub! I hear is super duper expensive for child care and to be honest I want to be in a position as difficult as it might be, to not work full-time until its 5years old at least... I have plans to do a nail technician course in order to do something on the side.. but oh wait.. no man. Thats my main issue..mwah ha ha ha!!!

GREAT news about a little income from your SIL. I always feel its better not to take money as what goes around comes around but you and I both know how long it can take to upload etc and if they want you to benefit a little then don't be a mug - take it! :p We can't live on fresh air or be too kind.. remember 2013 is about you!

Overtime is good in anyway possible. I have a night shift on Saturday night.. when I think about the year to come and the fact that OT on weekends will be the only constant that I am sure of in my life I shudder.. but it has to be done...

Fingers crossed with your other job!!!

I am currently sat infront of The Walking Dead. TO much talking and not enough dead people...come on where are the Zombies.. one down fall of not having SKY.. the upside is that I am not a complete sofa vegetable...:rotfl:

I might even get my diary out tonight... can't believe I nearly sold two amazing ink dip calligraphy pens on eBay.

I went walking in the Cotswolds two years ago.. and would you believe out of no-where I found this little independent store with an old guy in the corner cleaning nibs... I bought beautiful thick writing paper with tissue paper lined matching envelopes with two "pen" handles and old school nibs that can be slotted in or changed willy nilly... I have "sepia" coloured ink to play with as well... I remember him telling me that Mount Blanc is a "no-good" brand and that Caran d'Ache ( my fave ) and Pilot are masters.. so there you go. By the way I want a Pilot Pen that's £150 and made from bamboo....one can wish...

    Onwards and Upwards...

P.S..Sholly there is a lot more to come...:T

Life is a wonderful journey where paths are neither straight or visible the here and now seems like a mountain sometimes it is not till we get through it and come out the other end do we see the purpose of its happening that can take years or months but time none the less. Your ability to turn things around and manage and plan and change shows how strong you truly are and how far you can go when you put your mind into action.
