See if any of you would like to read this entry from Shona Sibary without wanting to "have words" with her and perhaps wonder, oh wonder what a £7000 a month salary could do for you. Would love to hear from any 4 children families please...?
I am astounded by this and would LOVE to get my Ninja hands on her SOA...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Good morning everyone  How are you all today? Hi White_Flame and CandyCupcake, you'll like it here
I read that article this morning kat and couldn't work out whether I couldn't be bothered reading any more of what she had to say or whether to laugh at how ridiculous she was sounding. You're right, get that SOA up and let us rip it to pieces!
Re Christmas presents, I don't ususally see my family until after Christmas so do my shopping in the sales :money: but it may be different this year so I better get planning. Already bought my dad's gift - cost £1 in Ikea :rotfl: He doesn't care whether you spend 1p or £100, and this is something that he'll really use so he's sorted!
Chipped another bit off the Virgin card again - bit of ebay and a Quidco payment were today's sources. Great tip about the free listing weekend (thanks Listerbelle). Toodling off to get a list together.......0 -
Well done on your signature kat :T0

- Who you spend your money on?
This years presents to Mum, Dad, Sister, Brother in law, iece, baby Niece or Nephew 9not born yet), Grandad 1, Grandma, Grandad 1, Nanny, Mother in law, Father in law, Sister in Law, Brother in law, grandpa in law and Grandma in law. No to any friends!
Cost
Mum and Dad: £25 - bought
Mum and Dad in law: £25 - bought
Grandparents: 3 x £25 - bought
Sister and husband to be: £30 – to buy
Niece £20 – to buy
Baby £20 – to buy
Sister in law £15 - bought
Brother in law £15 – bought - Do you buy gifts "because they do",
No – I love my family and they do so much for me all year round it is probably the only time I show my appreciation back. That isn’t saying that if you don’t buy gifts for them you don’t love your family, of course not. - What is your limit for your DH or DW?
(I still haven’t got the hang of the abbreviations on this forum, does that mean husband?) Nothing – we haven’t bought xmas presents for each other for about 4 years now (which is when I left uni which is amazing as I was so skint then but spent so much more at xmas) - In the years of my youth we got 1 gift, what do your DD and DS require nowadays (give 'em all an orange I say ...........)(Daughter and son?) no kids. Parents use to spend about £100 on me growing up. I think they still do but covers both me and my husband (im 25 now if that makes a difference).
- More importantly have you ever had grief off someone cause you suggested your mum's cousin's husband's step-daughter is 35years old and doesn't actually know who you are therefore gifts are being stopped this year?I suggested a couple years back to my now husband that you shouldn’t have to buy for the older cousins (5 of them) as we were all between 20 and 30 and it was a bit much. Finally, last year his family agreed to do a s??t santa. Not sure if there is a plan for this year as first year ever they wont be spending xmas day all together. We will probably have to get something for his 2 younger cousins (10 and 12) as they usually give us something homemade and then ask “where is our present?” (this even happened when I visited my other half’s family the first xmas we were together after 6 months of dating and I hadn’t got them anything). Since then iv been getting their xmas lists in September – how lucky for me!!!!! I always resent getting them presents as my husband and I don’t see much of them and they don’t make much effort with the whole family. Their parents are quite rich and always give quite cheap presents to everyone (though the only time ive got a present from them was at our wedding and what (little) they got us is still talked about by the family behind their backs – I wont go into details as im ranting away as it is) they then ask for expensive xbox and playstation games for their kids. Husband usually gets his birthday card 3 months late and when we were trying to scrape together our house deposit we did a tonne of baby sitting for them and they suggested that they would collate all the money we would of usually been given and they would give us vouchers once we buy a place so we could buy some nice items for the house but 2 years later we still haven’t seen anything – I would estimate we did over £100s worth of babysitting. I know I sound ungrateful – I do feel bad saying this stuff. I just think the kids are way over spoilt (I have NEVER EVER heard their parents say No) and im probably just jealous as I didnt get 1/5th of what they get.

Ha HAAAA!!!
Tracked you down on here too Kat!!! Awesome thread... You have so much determination!!! I think I'd fall short of this one - but I'd decided I wanted to be totally debt free by the time I reach 42 - just over 2 years away for me. 42 is astrologically very significant as it's the official mid-life crisis!!!. Maybe I need to do my own thread ha ha!!!
I will watch and support though and of course see you on the NOvember thread!!!

Thanks for your support and the cyberhugNo-one's upset me - just working long hours, little sleep (jetlag), and paid out nearly 400 quid for an exam that I'm retaking.....and therefore supposed to be studying for.
OK - off to work now. I have a bunch of Ebay relisting to do when I get back from work!

What a great thread! Kat you are very inspirational you know, I have many a target to reach before I reach the dreaded 40 (a year and a half away!) but reading your story has made me want to knuckle down and make loads of lists (I love lists!) of what I want and need to do.
Keep up the good work!Hi, my name's Katy and I'm a (former) spendaholic! :wave:NSD - November Challenge - 7/105/11/12 - 7 Weeks to Christmas Weight Loss Challenge! 2/140 -

Good day my special friends
its been very busy on here
. I am just watching crazy stupid love on the box and oh has taken the hound for a run with him
oooh ryan goosling :P haha... how is the NOvember challange so far? This will be the first year that me and oh buy gifts for each other, we have normally focused on extra penny to the negative wealth pot. We buy for immediate family and i have on times tried to shrink down what we buy for people or drop hints but somehow it feels awkward. For neices and nephews i put money in because the money value seems more powerful than the cheap looking toy that was more expensive than the money value
if that makes sense lol x

Gooooood evening, good evening, good evening (I hope you read that in Stephen Fry's voice regardless of the time it actually is at the moment).
Good congrats on the getting rid of the loan Kat (was it Kat??)!
RE:christmas, last year I spent £5 on my sister, brother and sister-in-law, £15 on my mum and £60 on my now ex boyfriend. It was the christmas after my dad went into a coma (not to survive and we knew that after a week and a bit) so no one but my brother spent a lot on presents that year.
This christmas I will probably do the same, unless I get a job. Minus the boyfriend.
I had an interview last wednesday (yes it was halloween, no I didn't dress up) and it turns out I'm in the top 5! Plus I have another interview soon! Go go power rangers.0
