    CandyCupcake and White_Flame...WELCOME ON BOARD!!!

Thank you both for joining in! Its always great to know I am helping some how but I truly believe if we pull together and talk about what we need to do there will be an easier road that opens before us where we will never be embarrassed to buy slightly discoloured rotting vegetables cause they are 10p and we can use them tonight in soup, that yes we will pick up random receipts in car parks for the pence we could save and that we would rather be at home in our pyjamas squirrelling away pennies while we are warmed by our cats instead of putting the heating on.....:T:T:T:T:T

WE are at war! I have been told I have a battle cry that only the super poor and seriously in debt can hear... then so be it! We need to avoid the sales, put down our credit cards, pick up those 5p's in gutters and fight the fight against consumerism that we do not need!!!

Angelina Jolie once said that she has had the same pair of boots for 10 years that have been re-soled and re-heeled over and over cause she loves them - they are probably individualised by now...embrace this kind of confidence! We should dress, look, feel and be who we want to be - not what society prefers from us.. cause this will cost you new boots, a jacket, bag to match , high-lights and nails.....

Boys are just as bad with they're gadgets -then there is the car that everyone wants.. do yo know the difference between AER and APR.. do you know that most places with have similar cars but the one offered on finance with AER will bee £200 cheaper... why is this?? Because no matter how much you pay back you will always be paying interest on the entire amount... but the minus £200 at the beginning makes it look all the more appealing.....GRRRR.

We need to be educated about where this money will add up.. that minimal payments on little things will mean we have that debt for 99 years or more...I am waffling but this is why we spiral into debt and I am determined to help you get out and stay out of it...

  • :xmastree:Good Morning Kittens! :xmastree:

I love Autumn. I am one step away from parking up outside Hyde Park on the way home and kicking the leaves that the council workers have just swept up. Short of getting a broom handle where the sun don't shine it might just be worth it to put a smile on some grumpy suit's face..... they need to lighten up a bit. Whats more fun is feeding squizzels..( that's right, they are also called Squirrels ).. however I refuse to lose an NSD on squirrel nuts....ahem.....:)

So the day has started with beautiful SUNSHINE. Christmas is but 5.5 weeks away and not one of my family members are getting presents...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Mother, the ever present penny-pincher actual winces when I buy her something. I can see the cogs turning "how much was that? / you got me a what-now? / do you have enough money for petrol? / did you get my care-package of porridge oats?...etc. I love Mummy's care packages. I got them at Uni and I still get them... it may include a £5 to treat myself to a pizza when I come home late on a Friday and don't want to cook - or chocolate because having it in the house might make her eat it so she sends it to me. I am TOTALLY fine with this!!! its Lidl's finest by the way.. So we don't buy gifts for each other. being at home with Mumsy is enough of a gift ( blurrrgh ).. however if I am under her nose it means I am not on my motorbike in crazy London - any she gets a few days of undisturbed sleep...

There have been occasions when I get new knickers in the post. This makes me smile:p. Although it has been a while. I LOVE NEW UNDERWEAR! In Northern Ireland we have Dunnes Stores - which is a poor mans Marks and Spencer's. Although I love it. I bought an £8 black polo neck there once, with super long sleeves and super tight... I wear it with a pencil skirt and 4 inch heels.... but I also love their cheapo underwear. So when Mumsy wants to send me a treat.. I get new knickers! Although I have stopped the lingerie spends entirely. Not sure i should've shared this but seriously who doesn't love new knick-knocks as they are referred to in my house...

    Anway - waffle alert!

What I am interested in is how much we all spend on Christmas presents. I had this superb idea of buying gifts for my girlfriends to the value of £20 each ( x 6 ) and a £45 hamper for the family. I realized these girls don't really communicate with me to the extent that deserves gifts when I am broke, our friendships are tentative as my life takes new turns and they discover I am changing ( nothing wrong with this by the way, we all change ) and there are really only two little people I really want to treat ( MountainMum that's you by the way ) and MIGHT bring a few bits home to my parents...( namely that plum jam am I still waiting to make - plums are in the freezer by the way ).... but tell me

    • Who you spend your money on?
    • Do you buy gifts "because they do",
    • What is your limit for your DH or DW?
    • In the years of my youth we got 1 gift, what do your DD and DS require nowadays (give 'em all an orange I say ...........)
    • More importantly have you ever had grief off someone cause you suggested your mum's cousin's husband's step-daughter is 35years old and doesn't actually know who you are therefore gifts are being stopped this year?

Personally Christmas is not a Christian arrangement.. Christ was born in October, and the pagans introduced trees and baubles ( I think these were the shriveled heads of those that refused present giving... :p ).. so where we are good Christian Soldiers we do not buy in ( get the pun? ) to the hype so much as some families...

This aside.. I absolutely love the atmosphere Christmas bring's.. the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland where I buy nothing cause its SO expensive ( and the ginger German bread they sell is 99p for a bag in Lidl's..), the ice-rinks for £13 for 30 minutes and 1 square foot of space to move, the lights on Oxford street ( easily amused ), Starbucks Christmas cups ( with water inside ).. the cold air and numb fingers/nose/toes & ears of wandering the London streets "just looking" ... I absolutely love it all!

However I can sense your glutemous maximus (rear-end ) going numb and your eyes failing you after reading this.... for goodness go print some coupons then...

I might write a book and call it... "Give me your money and I will give you an allowance"...:rotfl::rotfl:

Christmas in our house changed as the children grew and once Santa had died (shhh don't tell the little ones) I sort of gave up the pretense and we settled down to a couple of gifts for the now grown children and one each for mum and dad, now dad has passed (nearly 2 years this month) so only mum to get for and I usually try for a jigsaw puzzle as she loves them and together we must have over 40 in the house soemwhere, I tried ebaying them but it was such a faff, and the postage put most people off. The kids now ask for an item they would like and if I can manage it that is what they get, luckily they know how the money situation is in our house so are very good at choosing small gifts.

Wow what a load of waffle, I really need to use more full stops and paragraphs ha ha
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
