HHHHMmmmmmmmm! I am truly not sure. I am just trying to see if I can get through this year. It is going to be tough... see next post...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Well... With £7345 left in the loan account I have 8 pay-days to get rid of it. That's precisely £918 a month. Phew!
I already pay £297 each month.
I need another £621.
Mummy gives me £140.
I need therefore £481
Eventually the student loan people will stop taking £110 a month.
I therefore need only £371 a month.
These calculations don't include interest charges though.
So I have asked Mummy to place her money in my new Nationwide account to accrue a little interest until December 31st. This should amount to around £1120.
I cancelled my work union subscription - £96 for 8 months saved.
The full amount of £621 has to come out of my wages each month. June will be tight and only allow for a £400 contribution which will at least bring me below £7000...
Once the student loan has ceased I will have enough to cover all this and possibly have £2 left over - however this means reducing my food to £50 a month...Hmmmmm!
So my out-goings = £1000 (Cannot be reduced any more)..
The Land Loan = £918
= £1918.
I will probably earn £1920 (When SL is ceased)...
Oh dear - it's gonna be a tight one. But this is me doing it on the chance I will never get any more over-time ever. Otherwise it will be an extra £300 a month and I will hit £1200 in payments...
June will be tight though as I had no OT in April...
Hmmmm I am going to sleep on this....(although still at my friends house)...
Onwards and Upwards...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. I am just as confused by it as you. He told my mum to bring me in 15 minutes early each day & to bring something with me. Apparently he had had the problem before & that was what worked.
I guess it was some kind of idle worship thing as he was a really lovely bloke, just a bit of a Hagrid and scary in that way plus very strict. I was frightened to death of getting the wrong answer when he picked me out in class. But if he said you were doing well it was an amazing feeling.
My report paper from that year is in my mums wedding album. It just says 3 words! 'Mean, moody & magnificent' - still sums me up now! Lol

P.s I just read your food will be dropping to £50...
I wish I had your address in a non-stalkerish fashion. I'd send you a giant care package!!!

In the name of sisterhood, I'll join you in your £50 food challenge next month. Yikes, I'm nervous already  Let's make it another 'batten down the hatches' month.
You'll probably manage some form of overtime over the next 8 months and there's always eBay, not to mention your imagination-knowing you, you'll manage to find away to turn those two spare pounds into magic beans0 -
Reading your calculations made me genuinely stressed. But I think there are some important points; by the end of this year you will have cut your debt by an incredible amount. Regardless of whether you are debt free or not.
You've obviously learnt a lot, you've gone from acquiring debt to living well within your means. Even if (when debt free) you loosen the belt a bit, you should still be able to avoid debt.
If you cut your food costs to £50 a month, you better not be doing it at the cost of your health. Or I will find you and beat you up!
Lastly I'm very sorry for preaching.
My boss keeps talking about having a meeting with me. I'm hoping for the raise he promised me, I'm really hoping it's not going to be him firing me.0 -

I think it might be because the amount she needs to pay off each month is 3/4 of my monthly income.:rotfl:0 -
Ha you girlies make me giggle.
I have only spent £55 this month so far and there were items I could have done without - like two cans of pepsi, crisps, vermicelli noodles and cordial and such like....Oh and I did SPLURGE on an 89p bottle of Imperial Leather body-wash as my soap was disappearing... So I think if I seperate the beauty items from my food budget I should be ok.
I have learned that prior planning is important. So flour for the machine is 45 for 1.5kg ... beans and pulse's can go far with ust a few cans of tinned tomatoes..
Peaty the money will mainly be going on fruit ( I can't live without bananas, kiwis and pears )..a bag or two of nuts from Lidl's and I will be a little more ruthless, determined, and Ninja like in going to Mr T's for yellow sticker vegetables.
Siouxsie good for you joining me in my crazy challenge. I think their needs to be an emergency £10 "just in case"... should be fun though....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Right I need to wash and get to the gym to get sweaty!:rotfl:..a wee swim and possible cinema stint! Treats for me!
