^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS made my day!! Couldn't agree more. I can't help but look at pictures of the Kardashians since I cannot understand that physics defying bum of hers. You said it, I thought it...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Have had a lovely day doing zip all apart from tidying and playing with the little 'un. Made a nice lamb roast as the lamb needed cooking or freezing and the freezer is actually bursting! NSD #20 today. You have inspired me indeed NSK although I may bow out of January's challenge. I've got my own little challenges set up, namely max spend on groceries & no meat for the month until everything is gone. I don't think I will do that great with any challenges as I try to settle back in to working though. We shall see what you throw up.

Where's Peaty? Hope she is having a lovely Christmas wherever she is!

Mayfair & HM I'm glad both of you are so enthusiastic. Yay for party food & scratchcards & being under budget!!!!

Kat, I love that old guy. (she says, sat here with the heating off finally after drying DD's bedding on the radiators) I wish I could be like that. I've had the heating on more in the 8 months since DD was born & OH moved in than I did in the 4 years previously added together.

I'm trying to work out how to make best use of 3 enforced hour long lunch breaks at work. I feel the need to actually take my lunchbreak now instead of working through it, as there is really no thanks... But now I need to think of things to do. Thus far I have thought - do my asda shop online to be delivered a day I am home each week - MSE ;) - keep my accounting up to scratch... I am not sure what else to do though. Obviously I am limited as to which websites I can use so surveys etc are out of the question. I don't want to aimlessly wander DM & Facebook.... Help anyone?!

Also, what do I do with about a kg of carrots that need using up? I don't like carrot soup... and I defo do not need any more cakes!:rotfl::rotfl:

  • :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You found my abuse on DM! I love that "newspaper" for complete trash and like to add some wicked comments on random pages to see how many green arrows I can get. SERIOUSLY need to get out more!!!....You are wicked Lilt!!

I can see how getting back to work may through you off kilter a little. Maybe..in your lunch break.... you could read a good book? Does Mummy Lilt get much time to herself to relax..? Or are you always needing to do something like me..?

I think this is Peaty's first Christmas without her Dad.. hope you are okay KillerPeaty..we miss you!!!

Carrots = Carrot Cake. That's all I can think of, I am useless!....the GoodFood website is good for recipes though..although you could just juice them although not all at once. I have heard of people actually turning orange from over indulgence with carrot juice..:D

My landlady rations the heating. I have no choice. Don't blame her really... hot water cat and real hot water bottle are just as good. Shame I need one of her sons to open the lid every night...moving on...

I need to go have a wee look at my spreadsheet.. I am starting to freak out about January and my leftover funds ...:T:T:T..I love a good challenge!!

    Onwards and Upwards!!

  • Roll on January it's my "official payday" so money has been transferred back :-) now to see what's what. I'm pretty sure your January spreadsheets are in good shape you will be fine :-) xx I'm so excited for 2013 x

  • Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and have been reading through this thread and I have to say I'm massively impressed with the support you all offer each other. This has motivated me to face up to facts and realise that I am in a lot of debt that I want rid of!

I've been looking through the site and plan to do a SOA so that I can see exactly where I am financially. Off the top of my head I believe I'm around £13,500 in the red.

I'd love to be able to clear all of this debt by the end of 2013 if possible. I've already had a nice head start with £2000 of PPI reclaimed, which will go towards my debts as soon as it arrives in my account, making my total debt around £11.5k. This works out around £31.50 per day.

Once I've cleared this debt I want to save for a deposit to buy the house I currently rent from my parents. Above all, I just want to be debt free. I hope to be able to pick up as much in the way of good advice to help curb my appalling spending habits and change my financial wellbeing for life. I have a wonderful wife and two beautiful children who deserve better than financial uncertainty and misery!

Sorry if this seems like a bit of a thread hijack, but I hope you all don't mind :)
  • Hi jmc, well done on the ppi reclaim! It's a good start. How much do you have spare each month to service the negative wealth? It would be useful to post a statement of affairs on the main board and then people will help find savings :-) welcome aboard x

    Hi there. :)

I just want to say Congrats on wanting to get debt free, you can definitely do it! But before you make to your soa please make sure you know exactly what ypur debts are and their aprs. That way you won't get any horrible surprises. Good luck!

Hi everyone. I'm waiting outside my work, waiting for someone to let me in. I've also been turfed out of my living room at home so i cannot access my computer. And phone internet is annoying! Though i have been lurking. Glad ypu all had nice christmases.
  • Morning all!

Welcome JMC - It's nice here, you'll like it! Get your SOA up ASAP. Wow. That's a lot of abbreviation!

NSK When are you unveiling the Jan challenge?

    Carrots... Hmm.... http://eatseasonably.co.uk/what-to-eat-now/this-months-best/carrots/ That's all I got.

Happy official payday everyone! Been moving bits and bobs around today. Muchos excitement. Only I'm stuck a bit at the moment and would like some input. I can't decided what do to. Do I:

    A) Keep a little two pots going this year for an emergency car repair fund (£20 a month, only one car needs it, other is in warranty) and a small Christmas pot (£15.00 a month)

    Or

    B) Throw all the above on the CC which would mean any emergency repairs for car would also me put on CC?

    Answers on a postcard please!!!!
  • Save for emergency car repairs, what card are you focusing on ? How much? If you use your £160 christmas fund over the 12months would that kill a cc sooner and then you can save more than £15 a month to get £160 over a shorter time? X

  • Good Morning boys and girls and a massive welcome to JMC. Well done on facing up to your debts.. you have less than I do so the end of 2013 might just be do-able for you. Don't worry about the hijack, we don't stand on ceremony here and there are no airs and graces... I started this thread as a way of documenting my journey and sucking in as many contenders as possible... You are more than welcome to join in!

I am just eating a very late breakfast, am packed and ready to head to Belfast. Pa is driving Granny home then me to the airport later tonight which means no web until I get back to London..

Mumsy is packing a lunch for me, gave me a "falafel" mix to bring home due to my emtpy cupboards and a massive pack of cashew nuts to make something with.. she loves sending me off with a "care package" and I love getting them...

January's challenge will be put up tomorrow afternoon. I shall be having a super lazy day as I have overtime tomorrow night commencing at 2300...treats... but it has to be done. Two days will bolster my end of month "money made" amount!...

Roll on payday.. I am intrigued to see if my hard work over the last month has paid off with a substantial addition to my wage - if not I will have to re-jig things.....**groan**..

    Right then...ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!!
