Morning all!
Hope you're all well.
Mayfair, I like the idea of an emergency car fund. I'm putting a bit away each month for Xmas 2013 too but I know it's also there in an emergency to prevent me having to use the CC. (and if I fall short paying the CC, I will use this to get to my DF date quicker)
lilt - is there any way you could just parboil the carrots sliced and squeeze into the nooks and crannies of the freezer?
Looking forward to hearing about Jan's challenge, be gentle with us! (Who am I kidding?)
Hubby had a bit of a wobble last night and I had to waft some wine under his nose. Going to pay what we've already saved for the holiday at lunchtime (might calm im a bit) Ran through the figures again to show him my plan is possible and transferred the £20 left from this week's budget into my little savings pot. Think I might do this each week as my savings pot is just an old bank account and the money is easy to access/transfer to other accounts if needs must.
Next fri, when we're half way through our month, I'm going to pay extra off the CC, then the Thurs before we get paid, what's left in my account will be split between the CC and holiday fund.
My plan is that Hubby will realise that multiple payments to the CC and squirrelling away what's left of a week's budget will still leave us enough to pay what we need towards the holiday each month and he will start to stress less about my targets.0 -

Focus is currently on the £4260. So thinking about what you just said, throwing the money at it would only reduce the interest slightly and not make a huge dent in the balance either. This is the focus atm for 2 reasons. 1. It's the biggest lump of debt in one place. 2. It's the only debt we are being charged interest on (That's a lie, we get interest on OD but not as much.). Hmmm... Maybe best to keep the pots.0 -

I know it shouldn't be funny but it made me giggle. It's hard trying to get them completely on board though, isn't it? Mine is number backwards and it doesn't matter how many plans and visuals I show him, he just doesn't get it. When he looked at the big CC statement all I got was, 'Well, we've not paid much off that, it's not working!'. What he didn't see until I dug the paperwork out was the other piddly CC balances that we'd cleared, the fact we'd paid the car insurance outright this month and the total amount we'd knocked off our debt. Even when I showed him this all he did was grumble a bit about the fact that he is banned from the tea wagon at work (he was doing about £30 quid a week on it!). I have managed to get him to give his online banking details up to me though so now I have full control and feel a bit more relaxed about it. I mean he gets it.... and wants to do it.... he just doesn't REALLY get it. If that makes sense? He wants to get to the end and have the holiday when we get there, but I don't think he quite gets that it's not going to happen over night. Ah well.... in the words of NSK, onwards and upwards!
Anyway, he's tetotal so even wafting wine at him won't help :rotfl:
And safe journey NSK, see you on t'other side!!!0 -

So it's a good job I kept the car pot today... £25 has zipped straight out as a niggly problem with hubs car (it's very, very, very old) is apparently, and finally, going to be fixed tomorrow. No more jumping the car in the morning! :j
Still plowing through the party foodtwiglets and garlic chicken bites for dinner. Happy holidays, even though i've been at work again today :j

Wow happy. That is some challenge!!! Go for it if you can!! We will be here, cheerleading you on!!!:j:j:j:j:j
Kat; I beamed when I saw your post. Your dirty little secret is my dirty little secret also. I can't help but read every trashy thing on there! It did make me giggle.
There is a bit of wriggle room for mummy time, but that will soon be swallowed by working 22.5 hours per week across 3 days, then OH working the remaining 4 days whilst I look after the baby! Factor in in-laws everrrrry Monday turning up as & when they wish with no thought for what I might have wanted to do in the 3 hours they kept me waiting before they finally arrived. "We'll be there for 10:30" & then stroll in at 20 past 3... I may need to start multi-tasking. Brush my teeth in the shower? Saves water I suppose.. Cook dinner whilst at work...? May need to work on that 1.. Lol.
HM - I wish I had room but my freezer is a small box on top of a 2 thirds height fridge-freezer... It has to fit underneath this god awful wine rack that my landlord had installed when he fitted the kitchen:mad:. I have filled every nook & cranny with ice cubes of potato & parsnip & carrots & zero salt stock & baby bolognese for little un. :rotfl:
Carrot juice... bleh. I've seen orange people, but I thought it was a bit too much fake tan? :rotfl:
I can see this being a soup... they are getting a bit sad looking & I refuse to throw them. I don't care if it's £1 for 1.3kg - I shall not waste!
Hope your journey isn't too hectic Kat. Relax with kitteh cat when you get in
Yay hey Peatyhope xmas was good for you. Boo for working at Xmas everyone
I'm pooped today for no apparent reason. Apparently this is the traditional day everyone collapses on the sofa after overdosing on food, booze & relatives... I feel just like that. I am going to bed!
Have a lovely evening all.
Remind me when I get up: ASDA - add favourites & choose a shop date. Start prepping 2013 diary. Check bank acc (again). Do maths on exact salary figures to work out pro-rata amounts in coming months. Work out DD's again.
Night night xx

Hi Everyone, especially Kat
I have spent many days reading from the very beginning and now I am up to date :j
What an inspirational thread this is - I very rarely post or keep up with a thread this long so thank you to you all for the bedtime reading you have provided over the last few days.
So far you have inspired me to look online at what money is in my accounts, search the house for loose change (£17, not bad for 30mins work!) and get thinking about my goals for 2013 (not sure I could give up Facebook, perhaps I should cut down on my DM intake though and I should probably get over my fear of eBay and finally sell some [STRIKE]treasure[/STRIKE] rubbish).
Anyway, I felt that I had to say hello and hopefully I'll keep up with you all in 2013.
