Hi everyone :wave: how are you all? Hope you've had an amazing time over the last few days! I've been MIA as I've been so busy having the most wonderful Christmas
My niece was staying and we had a FAB girlie time talking, shopping and eating! I just dropped her off at the airport this evening-she flew back to Belfast + I had a snigger about her bumping into kat! Lazy day planned for me tomorrow so I'll catch up with all your stories then.
Welcome newbies
Hope you got home safely katLooking forward to the unveiling of January's challenge....sort of!

Wow Fliparoo. I found it hard just catching up from the beginning with the first 17 pages!!! That's some staying power!!!
Welcome to the thread & well done on getting started thinking about your finances. First step complete! £17 around the house?! That is excellent!!! As for eBay, I thought I had gotten over my fear but even after a successful sale, sending & feedback I still get nervous!! Kat is amazing with eBay tho!!
Siouxsie wb!! Glad u have had such an amazing Xmas. Other people really make Christmas don't they
I'm not looking forward to Jan challenge but I will peek & see if we can do it & definitely cheerlead! I've pledge 15 days so far in the NSD thread...
Got a rubbish nights sleep as my stupid arm is doing its winter thing & the muscle in my upper arm is hot & solid & cramping so bad I can't sleep and have to lie on it to make it go dead. Not funso I am off to shower & relax a bit!

Hey all,
Been a while so thought I would do a quick update.
Yesterday was our first payday of the new year and the saving has started woo we've given ourselves £50 a month for non essentials to keep us sane and the rest gets transferred out our accounts for DDs and saving hopefully giving us £500 a month saved ! Slightly more next 2 months thanks to council tax although that money needs to buy some baby bits we need. So far we have been very fortunate as we have spent a total of £60 and got a cot, push chair, car set, Moses basket, baby mobile, bottles and sterilisers and loads of clothes and blankets ( mainly freebies. )
Have put some bits on eBay for my grandmother which she gave me to generate some income to buy some baby clothes with. It remained unsold last time but hoping to get £15 for it :j I have some other things I am going to put on there now while its free insertion before the new year.
Lilt can you not just eat the carrots as a carrot sticks and give the other half some in his lunch? Or will he not appreciate them?
We got some m+s vouchers for Xmas and are going to see if there's any baby bits in the sale, if not buy some food and take it off e food budget, ho hum
Be good0 -
Hey spud, congrats on getting most of the baby stuff cheap. Though, may I make a suggestion? M&S has some very reasonably priced clothes/underwear which (from what I hear) might be very useful for spit up baby. :rotfl:
Happy, YAAAAAAAAAY! :T I'm sorry, I'm not sure what the correct reaction is, I've only known people who have had babies, not plan for babies. Umm... Woo!
Fliparoo, WELCOME! Have a digital tea []o : ) I'd love to hear your goals if you're willing to share them.
Lilt, have you tried heat patches when your arm goes like that? My neck goes into spasm often and I use this (ish- I use the neck one). They're great : )
Siouxsie, I'm glad you had a good christmas!
I've attempted to open up my first ISA... but at the end they told me I need to send them a cheque and not a DD... I don't have a cheque book... suggestions?0 -
Good Day to you all! I had a horrid journey home last nigth and got home at 0100. Turbulance, delays, and not being able to eat made me quite weak by the time I got home. I am currently running a bath, will check in on all the posts afterwards but prepping myself for a night shift at 2300-0700 today and need to head back to bed about 1600...
So January's challenge is about to be release!!!..

right i finally have come up with a figure for my sig its roughly what i thought it would be though with a lot of payments in and out of the O/D its not always easy to get a handle on it. the first 2 months of the year are good for me after that mortgage payments and a probable heating oil bill will slow it right down again so onwards and upwards while the going is good!

Jan Challenge is up & I am out. I have too much going on this month. I don't mean to overspend by any means but I have to get a handle on 3 days at work, OH with 3-4 opposite days at work to me, baby-minding & managing to see my my really good friend who just moved a 10 min train journey away from me...
meaning spending to see her some of the time.
Worryingly the NSD thread peoples seem to have taken real umbrage at the posting of total NSD's in their thread for the challenge. Think we were all clogging the thread with NSD informative yet unsociable posts & ruining the atmosphere.
Happy I am crossing everything for you honeybuns but it could take a while! Don't panic if it doesn't happen first time...
Spud, I think my 2 bags of 1.3kg of carrots would make too many carrot sticks even for me. The problem lies in that my mum bought me a bag when she came to visit (like I'm a pony or something...) & I already had a bag... Lol. OH would look at me like a looney if I offered him carrot sticks. especially as we have not one, but 6 tubes of pringles... we bought 2 of those..well done on the £600 spend for the baby. We were so lucky with ours, my sister gave us my nephews old cot & changing table... £600 worth of stuff right there. Parents bought the pram/travel system. People bought sooooo many clothes. I can't really think of anything we actually have really spent out on for her to be honest. Sleepsuits & babygrows... nappies.. that is about it!
Peaty I had some of those heat patches for so long they went out of date... haha! I'd probably need 3 to cover my arm... then 3 weeks later when it finally stopped hurting I'd be a: broke & b: have to start all over again with the other one... Weird arms. I just keep pouuring on the deep heat cream & hoping for the best. At least it isn't my neck, you poor thing.
eco I know what you mean about an ever-changing OD amount. I basically took mine from the highest point pre-LBM right before I got paid. On my credit report, the bank provided a figure every 2 months based on those 2 months of owing. I wasn't far off with my figures but it was horrible seeing it there on a report for all to seeStill, gone now! Yours will be soon I am sure!!!
Off to bed. Really my arm tires me out more than the baby. She sleeps; I do not. Night all!

Well now its been a busy day ... sleep was the main concept of the day!
WELCOME to Fliaproo! I am impressed that you sat and read from the beginning. And finding £17 in 30 minutes is impressive... might have to snoop through my own room now...
Lilt I don't blame you from taking a break from any challenges.. You have a hefty month a head of you and how sad that your friend moved away... there will be a lot to take in with travel etc and getting your head round being away from the little. Good luck with it all though - when do you officially start back? Do you in-laws cover a day of baby-sitting for you on Mondays?..
Killer I was looking in M&S myself for my friend who is about to have her third and the sales are really good in there! I am with nationwide for my ISA ( not that I use it ) and they are easily dealt with. I guess you would want your ISA with the bank you are with right - I am useless sorry.. I just hardly ever deal with mine. So are they wanting cheques from now on and won't let you pay by DD? Or just to open it?
UnaidedSpud - how exciting getting all the baby stuff! Well done on what seems to be some seriously good finds... finger crossed for the eBay sales. I know how frustrating they can be though.. I like your idea of "£50" to stop you going mental..:p
Happy I am super HAPPY for you. As Lilt says it may take a while or surprise you and happen WAY faster. But everything is crossed for you!! :j
Siouxsie how are YOU! I was thinking about you on Friday at the airport thinking how I might see you or one of the family. That would have been WEIRD! Your niece is heading back to some horrific weather!! The journey to London nearly made me ill.. I do not travel well and coming home is always more challenging - don't know why!
Eco I am happy for you and as you said get it going while the going is good....:):)
Abundant - where are you? How are you? Hope you are well!
In other news... I am going to whittle my "threading" here down to one full post a day. I have January to run and blogging for a friends website (which I get paid for now on a weekly basis ) and its all getting a bit too much to hit on every few hours and sometimes twice a day is hard due to work ( gotta stop doing this at work though really )...
I will be checking in to read posts though and really love the up-dates from people. There will be "extras" posted now and then as I feel it necessary to blather on about something...:T
Until later...Onwards and Upwards!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Happy sunday all, i have written and deleted several times because i decided to just let the dust settle and get swept up! Hugs ninja im sorry that an honest mistake has turned into what read like a witching hunt, your challenges are great i dont join them im too much of a wuss:rotfl::rotfl:however i believe the mention of nsds and declaring them on the nsd thread was done so that you didnt take someone elses idea, it has apparently been taken the wrong way but alas there are nicer and less hurtful ways of pointing this out to you. However i wont loose time and sleep over it the issue is done. If you want a specific NSD thread for your challenges you could just create one "The hardcore NSD thread in link with my NSK challenges" There you could say that you declare and decide on the specific nsd numbers for your challenges no upset lost and the NSD longstanding thread can keep it how they like it.
Ninja i hope you havent let this upset you, i could quite happily be less reserved about the situation but am concious of how spoken or typed words can upset individuals and thats not what i am about. I never go on the nsd thread for nsds posts so it wont be hardwork for me to not take a part of it
