That's how I do it.
I started with a much higher budget than I have now and shaved a bit off each month, that way I continually felt I was hitting my targets.Weight 12 st 2lb - Now 11 stone 1 lb (-15 lb)

I had a read of the Payment a Day thread and it seems like a good idea, so while I am going to keep taking lump sums off my loan as and when, I'm going to try every day to round down my current account to the nearest £5, and put the excess on my Credit card. So this will avoid my 'minimum payment only' markers too.
Had a very naughty spend today of £290  because I booked for me and my sister to go to a spa for the evening. She is getting married and never gets any time for herself (3 young kiddies) and is quite stressed about the wedding so the week before we're going to have a 'girls night in' spa break where we get bucks fizz, dinner, girly movie, breakfast in bed, use of all facilities and an hours body massage each. So this is going to be a nice break and is my wedding present to her.
I saw my ideal apartment advertised for sale online today at £110,000 and it really spurred me on to keep going with this so I'm going to start on a budget tonight while watching a movie (Netflix free trial) after a bit of housework

I'm still trying to work out the best way to budget. At the moment I've set an amount to spend each week with a view to withdrawing that amount on a Monday. I'm only on my first week and I've already realised that it's not going to work. I'm hoping to be more organised next month.LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0

Didn't do very well with my budgeting last night, I think I got carried away in the movie

After reading Scuff's post yesterday I think
it's good to have a daily plan, so here's what I'm going to do this evening.
I'll be working until about 2.30 and then I need to drive to Leeds for an interview (well and truely NOT MSE on petrol there!!) and back. No doubt will have some organising for work when I get back too. So after then I'm going to take pics of my Ebay stuff and look up websites to send my old mobile off to for some cash
Still doing the small overpayments to my CC by rounding down my account to the nearest £5 so will do that at the end of the day too.
On a better note- weekend is almost here!! Fabulous.:j0 -
:wave:Evening!
Just got back from interview in Leeds, it went REALLY well which is fab. The company are waiting on the green light for a few projects and should know in a couple of weeks, but she said I need to call her asap if someone else offers me a job in the meantime and if that happens she might just make a leap of faith and employ me before the go ahead. So all very positive I will have a job to go onto after this one
My BMI cards arrived today. I applied for this to fuel my loyalty points, in this case avios, as you get 20k points when you spend £250 in the first 3 months. So I will use this instead of my Natwest one until Christmas. I've just activated it online and selected 'Pay in full via DD' so no interest to be charged and will stop me spending lots on it. Decided NOT to add the BMI card to my sig as it won't ever be a debt if I'm paying off in full every month.:j
The only thing I DID consider, was that I have an offer for 0% on money transfers to my current account until October 2013. I was wondering if I should do this to pay off my loan which will give me til next year interest free with just the 4% charge (£146.45) and the charges for over paying (need to check but I estimate around £50). Is it worth it for £200? Need to do some number crunching.
Need to catch up with work for a couple of hours and then can get on my mobile selling hunt and Ebay box.0 -
Yay for your interview going well :j fingers crossed!!
Just wanted to ask when you do the whole rounding down to the nearest £5 and transferring it across to your CC have you found this works? I suppose it's only been a few days but I'm curious whether I should give it a try with my other OD, just scared I'd end up getting over excited and leave myself short!!
Hope you've managed to get some ebay on.. I haven't :rotfl:September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Thanks Scuff!!
I'm a little annoyed with myself though because I didn't do my Ebay box. My friend called and asked if I wanted to go to the cinema (I did) and then we went for cocktails, so spent about £40
Re the rounding down, it's only been a couple of days but I like it. It could be more but because I use my CC for everything (to get points) I rarely have odd figures on my current account.
I'd definitely reccommend it Scuff, as rounding down to £5 doesn't seem to be an amount I miss at the mo, just don't go crazy and pick anything big!! Good thing is you might have shaved off an extra tenner than you usually would just be doing a few pence each day.
Deffo Ebay tomorrow...:rotfl:0 -
Things sell better on a weekend anyway, that's my excuse... :rotfl: I'm holding you to it, if you don't get it done this weekend expect some grief haha
I want to say you deserved the cocktails for your interview, but have a feeling that's the wrong attitude for here :rotfl:September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Sunday update!
I was out for the most of yesterday. My mum wanted to buy a new sofa so off to Harveys we went and she picked a lovely one. I also saw a lovely sofa that I could just imagine in my new house (I'm going to talk as though it's soon because that will gear me on I think) so that has been ear marked for purchase when the time comes
I then went with my sister (bride to be) and co shopping  which was dangerous but surprisingly very successful! I managed to ind a gorgeous dress for the wedding and when I went to pay for it the price had gone down to £20!!! About a fifth of what I would have paid so very very happy girl. I also bought a beautiul little pearl-like bracelet from Debenhams which was £11.25 in the sale. Sorted or shoes because I'm going to wear the Gucci ones I bought and have not got round to wearing so I'm sorted for the wedding!!
In other news, I won't be going out or doing anything strenuous today as it's about to get VERY hectic with work the next 2 weeks so prep and lots of sleep tonight is sensible!
Plan for today HAS to be...
- Check when free listings are on Ebay next
- Sort through my mountains o toiletries and get rid of anything I won't use. NEED more space.
- Possibly buy underbed boxes from shop to move the pile of clothes that have no home from around the room!
-Do a couple of hours work in prep for tomorrow
That's all I'm going to set myself up for today so hopefully will have a successful day!0 -
Free listings next weekend (13-14th Oct)!!! :T xSeptember 2016 GC £21.37/£1200
