Hiya everyone and hope you are all having a Good Friday,

Went and saw Aunty J yesterday and she is a lot better. Been for a walk this morning and DH is beside me making piggy snort sounds so I'd say he's going to drop off to sleep very soon. There's a bingo in the village tonight so might trot off to that. I know, I know, I live a very exciting life.
I don't think the Easter Bunny knows I'm over here cos I've looked everywhere and I've seen none hidden.
Ivan & Skyblue Happy Birthday.
Smoky & Blairweech ((((((hugs)))))) Look after yourself as well. Thanks for the recipe too. It looks yummy.
Well off to have a surf, DH has progressed to a full blown snore now.
Byeeeeeeee Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

OMG! we almost lost them!
The chicks were in the middle of the canal when one of the many boats to pass today came along. Not knowing what to do they swam along on front of the boat, trying to get away. The boatman spotted them, slowed right down, Mum and Dad surfaced (they had both been underwater foraging) and guided the chicks to oneside.
BUT, by then they were in the territory of another pair of coots, one of whom attacked the chicks! Two were pushed right down underwater and were down for a while. They don't have their diving lungs yet, not the plumage they need to be able to handle the depths so I thought that was curtains for those 2.
One surfaced but there was nothing to be seen of the other, which was the youngest and smallest chick in the hatch. The parents were frantically searching for it, after what felt like ages it finally surfaced on the far side of the canal, resourceful little thing had swum (OK been sent by the boat wash) back into it's own territory and over to the far side of the canal.
Next thing all my neighbours are out yelling at the boats to slow down so the chicks can get back to the nest safely. It's good to know so many people care what happens to the little fluff balls.
Far too much excitment for one day!My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
Proud to be a chic shopper

hello everyone,
Lots of hugs to Smoky, Moggins, Blairweech, SkyBlue and anyone else that is facing life's challenges, hugs aplenty ((()))
Happy birthday to the birthday babes!!
Glad you had a good break Penny Pincher, and I hope a more restful afternoon helps you feel better - hugs to you too.
CCstar - great news re the house, it must be great to feel that things can move forward now.
I'm giving myself a three-day holiday from treatment, feeling loads better as a result (it makes me feel quite grotty), and am off to stay with my auntie from tomorrow late p.m. till Monday afternoon. It will be lovely to see her, and will catch up with my cousins on Sunday - one of whom I haven't seen for many years, and he has a wife and children I've never met - so it will be fun.
The cat is staying put with the lodger, and the dog is going on hols to two friends, so she'll have a good time too.:j
Have caught up with washing, house is looking reasonable and I have a friend coming for a meal this evening - my lovely former lodger who has been up in Wester Ross in the cottage I had hired - looking forward to hearing all about it - not too sad that I didn't manage to go as I really wasn't fit for the travelling. And there'll be another time!
Have a very happy Easter everyone, may the sun continue to shine!

Thanks RacyRed for the latest installment re the fluffy chicks. Lovely story, could picture the scene as if on dvd. Springwatch on OS!
Reminded me of when I lived on a busy road in Edinburgh, and a mother duck was walking down the pavement with 7 ducklings - apparently walking them to the nearest water, but she was miles off course! (Duddingston Loch, a bird sanctuary was 2 miles away). One of the ducklings got startled and headed into the rush hour traffic - one person stopped the cars whilst two of us rounded all the ducklings into a cardboard box and took them to a stream at the back of the local graveyeard - made sure Mum could follow us - all safe and sound!!
The nice thing was that all the people in the cars were preared to wait whilst we rounded up the little uns and made sure they didn't get flattened.
Thanks for reviving a happy memoryIf you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Good Afternoon
(((Smokey))) & (((Blairweech)))
Many Happy Returns to Ivan and Skyblue
Congratulations CCstar.
Lovely day here again. Have been to Argos for a new telly and got my £10 voucher, had buffet chinese which actually worked out cheaper than a takeaway. So will have sandwhiches tonight. Hopefully buider will find a plumbing shop open tomorrow and then will be able to do cooker and sink (fingers and everything crossed).
Have no real plans for tomorrow as have got hairdressers in morning and builder coming so think will just take the dog and children for a walk somewhere nice and take some munchies.
Best be off and do something think the next load of washing is going finish. Also need to hoover the house - what joy.
Enjoy the rest of your day.0 -

Good afternoon,
Ivan, Happy birthday! I know you've had a dreadful year so I hope spending this evening with friends and family will help a little bit.
Catznine, Good luck at the dentist tomorrow. I hope you manage to squeeze some chocolate in one way or another!
Blairweech, sorry to hear your news. ((Hugs))
Racy, I'm pleased the chicks survived...it's good to hear your neighbours are looking out for them too.
CCStar, I am so pleased for you that they made an offer.
twink and squishy, sorry for messing up who belonged to who. Either way I bet you'll be glad to see him.
Well, work is over until the 16th, so I'm on my happy holidays! :j After much talking about it, I am now in the middle of painting the porch and it's looking good.
It's clouded over a bit here today which helps as I don't want to sit in the garden so I can get on with things. The kids beds are on the line...well not the beds, just the bedding and there's a lasagne in the oven for tea.
Have a lovely Easter everyone! :easter_os

Awww bless the little fuzzy ones, well done to everyone for caring aswell. I get told off on regular occasions by other drivers for stopping for wildlife. A family of Partridges wandering over the road was the last one. Mum followed by many so I stopped and waited, then got blasted by several other motorists. Sorry but until they make crossings that these animals know how to use (which will never happen) I will continue to do so! To get to my house it's either a busy ish road (which still has woodland on either side in one place) or 2 country roads, I will stop for animals, but not stupid people with no sense! :rotfl: By far the scariest was going round one corner to see a horse stood in front of me, took ages for police to get there to move him, he was a right stubborn sod.
Anyway, been to garden centre etc. Have not got loads of pond plants and fish in our pond
Bruce, Diego, Vemon and Scissor they have been named by the boys. That garden centre was extremely expensive so will be trying another when I get more plants for the pots. £8 for 6 alpine plants! Hence only bought 6. Pond plants were also £5 each, bought 6. Came away after spending £80 didn't get that much to show for it either. Have done two long planters for down the sides of the pond to cover up where doesn't look very nice. Only got 3 plants in each but don't look too bad and will get some more when I find somewhere cheaper.
Kitchens a tip unfortunately, emptying cupboards and drawers to resort makes much more mess so going to do that after dinner has settled. Was mean't to have fish today but I forgot to defrost it so was bolognese instead. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Hi again
Another quick visit. Have managed 2 hours of quite intense gardening out the front and certainly can see the difference. Once we cut the grass again I am sure it will look even better. Still bits to do out there before I tackle the back (which is even worse) but have decided to take my time as I tend to overdue the big clearups and end up with a sore back!
Have also sorted out all my jewellry - you can tell I am so pleased it is now able to be used. I didn't realise how much I had until I got everything out and matched rings to necklaces etc!!
Racy - so glad Baby Coots OK. I love reading about them. Hope all OK with you.
PPincher - sorry to hear you haven't been too good last couple of days. Sounds like you had a good trip.
Blairweech - glad you have had an invitation out - hope you enjoy.
Day out with DD and kids tomorrow - not sure where we will go but it will be good fun I am sure.
I think I hear the sound of ice hitting the G&T glasses so you must excuse me while I dash downstairs!!!!
Hope to maybe have another look at you all later this evening.
Love and hugs to all
