Re leaving the heating on all the time. I was watching a scrimper show tonight and he said to leave it set between frost and 10 degrees all the time, turn it up when needed, and he reckoned it was cheaper.

The person at NPower said leaving the heating on all the time will be more expensive and even in the call centre they were wearing layered clothing and even slippers..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Re radiator foil: if you stick it to cardboard, you could get some of those plastic bindings for paperwork. Slot the card in but leave an inch or two of the binding sticking out, one either side and it will just rest on your radiator brackets. Hope that makes sense!Bossymoo

Did exactly the same last night as Tuesday and DD said she was chilly but not cold this morning.
She was complaining of feeling cold last night while sat on the sofa doing homework. I then pointed out she was sat with her feet on the laminate floor with just socks on, wearing very baggy tracksuit pants and a t-shirt. Funny that when she curled her legs up onto the sofa she started warming up. But she's a tween so can't be told and I know absolutely nothing

I have just had this update on the UK weather, thought you might want to see it
UK Storm Chasers
The nasty low pressure that was showing on the models has lost it's intensity and changed it's track, with it now expected to bring a batch of wet and windy weather to much of the UK this weekend, gales, possibly severe gales for some areas, so no longer exclusive to Scotland.
Northern England is the higher risk zone for strong winds this weekend.
Sunday in particular will be bad. Gusts of up to 50-60mph possibly higher for exposed locations, based on the latest model output.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Fortunately Scotland is ignoring the storm chaser's forecast and its a lovely sunny day today and for the weekend with only showers forecast for Monday:j0

I found THIS on Facebook - please 'like' the page to spread the word.
As part of your winter preps... Would you consider making up a rucksack for a homeless person?
Scour the charity shops for:
A rucksack
blanket/sleeping bag
jumper
hat, scarf, gloves
socks
flask (fill with warm soup/drink)
some extra food (i'm going to put in some xmassy bits and chocolate)
I've never really given it more than a passing thought but when I think now about how cold I get walking to collect the kids from school, it makes me cringe to think that some people don't get the chance to go home and warm up, let alone have a nice hot dinner or warming soup
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help by either making a rucksack up or 'like'ing the FB page :A0
