I love walking the dog on frosty mornings, especially severe frosts that effect the branches... lovely. Yes, colder here too. I found the girls salopettes today, right at the back of the cupboard.

Debating whether I need a pair for snowing school runs but I'm thinking if it's that bad where I need salopettes then the chances are the school will be closed anyway.
  • found a pack of 3 pairs of thermal insoles at b&m sheffield city centre today, just 89p. they are unisex and can be cut to size, machine washable.

hth. my "granny" shopping trolley - rolser free from freecycler had its first outing to market today, OH has pointed out it might get harder to get up our hill with in in bad weather but I am determined to get use out of it. Plus I think he is being discouraging as he is embarrassed by it - refused to look after it while I went to the loo!

I've a trolley too. :) I've not used it since I took up a job but will be moving house soon and about to be reunited with my trolley. If it's anything like the pushchair in the snow it will be useless... pushing it. Pulling it is a different matter ;)
  • I think I'll be buying a trolly too. I am eeking out using the bairns buggy but it's looking obvious it's not for her anymore. I would hate to go back to carrying shopping bags, especially as my hands arent so good anymore.
Maybe they can be funked up a little to make them hip :rotfl:
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
    50p: Christmas presents £3.50
    £2: holidays £2.00
  • I've got a shopping trolley too!

Bought really as the HB shop near DMs doesn't have a car park & it's about a 10 min walk (uphill) to the nearest car park - I buy loads of stuff as there's not one near me & after struggling up the hill with loads of heavy bags & several packs of loo rolls in the pouring rain .... and then the handles on the loo rolls broke  decided enough was enough and bought one!

It's fab - not used as much as it should be but do also use it if I walk along to the village shop - esp in bad weather.

I've been thinking whether it's worth taking it into Al*di / Li*dl and using it to pack the trolley into as well - the only thing would be lifting it in/out the car if it's really heavy.

I love mine and it's funky!;) Have a look on here http://www.shoppingtrolleysdirect.co.uk/index.php?PARTNER=STD&gclid=CJfRu-6c2LMCFYXLtAodPEUAVQ just to get an idea of the kinds of designs you can get.

the roslers are like the rolls royce of shopping trollies, i had one years ago and loved it, and they come in some funky colours and patterns

they are expensive but they last for years and years and are much larger than the standard granny style shopping trolley, i could fit a very full weeks worth of groceries for 3 people into it if that tells you anything

For those who need buggies to get your kiddies around... remember the cable tie trick for getting over snow and ice.

Would also work for shopping trolleys and bikes, altho who would ride a bike on snow is a mystery to me!

    So cheap and simple!

We had a lovely sunny day today and 24 degrees in the shade. We went fishing and I happened to have my camera with me when a sun halo appeared in the sky around the sun. I managed to get a great photo..they are caused by ice crystals reflecting the sunlight. It is supposed to be a sign of a bad storm nearby.

It's horrible here today, grey sky, pouring with rain and getting windier by the hour. There is a weather warning out for 'dangerous weather'...usually they mean thunderstorms that leave us with flooding and without electric. Cosied up on the sofa with the log fire burning, candles and some aromatherapy oil in the burner. It's so cosy I don't want to go in the kitchen to cook dinner...but someone will have to do it.....

Have just changed the fleece blanket for the thicker quilt on the bed as I was quite chilly for a while last night. I can't believe we were on the jetty fishing all afternoon yesterday in hot sunshine.
