I put the winter duvet bedding on the other day - brushed cotton/flanelette is so much snugglier and no where near as cold when you get into bed. I use it in the caravan when we go camping too. Unfortunately I swapped duvets and seem to have ended up with a thinner one (didn't realise they were different) but luckily we have a throw over the duvet and it;s not been so cold this week. Will swap them back when it gets cold again though.
Stocked up on stuff at lidl today, bought some of that radiator foil stuff for OH to play with. THanks whoever mentioned that :)
I didn't want the sticky stuff you could buy to go with it, how else can I stick it behind the radiator? I know homebase sell theirs with sticky pads, is that a better idea?

Nicki - have you got a thicker quilt she could use? 4.5 isn't that thick. Asda do cheap ones. Don't forget that if she's ultra fit or skinny she may have a lower body fat % and feel the cold more. My hubs was tested and found to be similar to an athlete, very low! Have you got a simple thermometer (or one you could borrow) to see if the temperature is colder than say your room? :)

What about a sleeping bag? You can get soft fleecy ones, so not meaning necessarily the full blown campling ones, lol! I use these on my two who wriggle loads as they then wriggle inside the sleeping bag but it all stays self contained so the covers tend to stay put, lol.. You could even make a quick, cheap one if you have an excess of cheap blankets as it just needs to be something similar to a sack that they wriggle in, but the covers stay put on top of the sack! :)

She has a sleeping bag but refuses to use it in the house. I actually have quite a large bag of fleece here (bought for a project that never happened) so I might make her a fleece blanket to put between her top sheet & quilt to see if that helps. I completely forgot I had it until I just saw the bag sitting on the side (one of those "can't see the woods for the trees" jobs :o)

I tried with a 13.5 tog and she spent the entire night sweating so much I could smell her from the door way  That was not pleasant, and meant she had to have a bath before school as we don't have a shower. I'll keep my eye out to see if I can find one in between. Her room is definitely colder than mine. Its also the room with the biggest condensation problem. Every morning, even in summer sometimes, her windows are wet. Once my refund comes through from Am*zon I'm going to go and buy a small dehumidifier for just her room.

Last night I changed the heating settings so it now comes on at 5.30 and go up to 20c, then at 8.30am down to 16c for the rest of the day until 3.30pm when it goes up to 18c, then at 6pm it goes up to 20c and back down to 15c from 10.30pm. I did have it set to only go as high as 18c but it wasn't feeling that warm at all in the house. So for now, until I can sort a working dehumidifier I'll just have to have the heating up for the moment. :(

As for DD, she went to bed in warm pjs, fluffy socks, I closed her blind and curtain about 4.30pm, heating was on 20c and I tucked her in VERY TIGHT :rotfl: Then I closed the door right over, and closed the other upstairs doors. She said this morning she was a little warmer as she climbed into my bed again. :rotfl: She certainly wasn't doing a snowman impression :j So some progress made. :D

I wonder if you kind people could possible help.

Last winter i fleece lined my curtains everywhere and put door curtains also lined on my front and back doors.
It ended up being quite mild in our area over the winter so i am unsure as to if we got any benefit from it as we also had the loft insulated.

We have recently moved to a new area and my windows all have roller blinds which are in good working order.
We have curtains on most windows too but the windows are recessed and the curtain poles are not, if you know what i mean. The curtains all stop just after the window ledges.

Would there be any benefit to fleece lining my curtains this year as they are
    1) approx 20 inches out from the windows themselves,
    2) very short so would my heating be going to the window and heading outside?

Rented accommodation so we can't change placement of curtain poles and longer curtains are out of the budget too for at least another year or so.

    thanks in advance

Can I recommend the little dehumidifier I got from Amazon? I got the GOLD-TEC COMPACT AIR DEHUMIDIFIER and got it for £32.99 plus postage. Its quiet enough to have on overnight if you wanted and although small it pulled about 150ml of water from our bedroom in 1 night. Its made the room feel warmer. Until then do you have salt or dried peas in the house? Put some in bowls and place out of the way to absorb some moisture in the meantime.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

I have the little dehumidifier pots you find in the £1 shop all over the place in her room already. I think there's 5 in there in total. I'm going to swap them out later as they don't seem to be doing much. I will be adding that dehumidifier to my wishlist for when the refund from them comes through though :D

i've found that by simply placing a fleece blanket over the top of my duvet it really helps a lot, or she could put one against herself under the duvet, my daughter does that a lot, i can't though, i get too hot when i do that, worth a shop and a cheap way to add extra heat, though i would def advise a heavier duvet for winter or another on top, when it gets really cold the 4.5 tog won't be enough unless you super heat the room, better to heat locally anyway

    Hi all

I have a rather daft little Question. I have problem operating my smart phone with gloves on, it seems Smart phones and gloves do not mix too well. Does anyone else have this problem or know a solution.
