It was very windy last night, bins rolling around the street and crashing all night as stuff in our neighbour's gardens were being thrown around.

I don't understand why some people don't have the sense to secure their homes before a storm!

I couldn't agree more 115K. In December the storms caused one of my neighbour's shed roof to come off and the door blew open. His mini trampoline was held down in just one place and it was a worry that it would take off altogether. And you know what? Nothing has changed at all. It looks like something from Beirut!

  • Not more?!?
  • Will the NHS be funded to fit us all with beaks and webbed feet do you think? I've got a feather duvet so I could empty that out and supply quite a lot of us with a nice coating too, then we'd blend in nicely with all the other ducklets floating around on Merrie England!!!

I want snow to Mar. The light levels are too low with all this cloud and rain. Although I suspect any snow would dissolve on contact with the sodden sponge we are sitting on.

It's been raining again overnight and this morning, and the water levels are going up quickly - there is no space left to absorb anything.

All I've seen so far this winter is some burst of sleet, hitting the ground and melting.
Half of me would like snow -maybe just over a weekend-if I could order, just because it looks nice, and we could have a bit of a play, AND I bought some snow boots on offer last year, which still have their tags on! they will probably last the rest of my life so it was money well spent.

Talking about snow reminds me of a special birthday long weekend away just with DH many years ago, booked a cosy cottage in Barnard Castle. The lovely owner asked us to park at the top of the road, as there was a steep drive to little cottage when we arrived, because snow was forecast. There was not a flake of white stuff in air.
Had a lovely evening, heating on, log fire, some food I'd taken for the first night.

Woke in the morning and there was about 6 inches of snow, we'd never have got the car up the hill-it was magical.
Walked to village in walking boots, had to buy some extra socks as feet were freezing and a bit wet, changed my socks in a tea room-sorry to the other people there!
That evening trudged back to find a fish & chip shop, which were so delicious!!!

The weekend was over soon enough and the snow stared melting, back home to 2 children and their Nain-who was probably quietly knackered from looking after them for 3 days!!!!!:)

  • won`t be long before us peasants revolt. Cameroon has been bragging that the river by his home has been dredged several times. One law for the toffs and one law for us. I am fuming :mad::mad:
