Rain (caught in it and got soaked) has turned to heavy snow here. Really feeling the cold. Trying to keep the thermostat turned down (as not working at the moment so the pennies are tight), got lots of layers on, room doors shut, candles lit in the room OH and I are in. OH seems warm enough but I'm still cold. I had massive blood loss (2.5 pints) just before Christmas, I've been prescribed iron but I'm wondering if I'm still anaemic hence I'm really feeling the cold?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Very windy and some rain in North Wales, mountains are covered in snow.
Got home from work about an hour ago, and as a previous poster said I too have only just taken my coat off-and that was to put my PJ's, woolly slipper boots, and dressing gown on!
All binds closed, then curtains closed, doors shut to rooms, door curtain drawn on both outside door (have to open them quick when I hear OH drive home as he'll be struggling to get in behind a curtain!!)
I don't think it will be as bad as Wednesday night, I was quite scared inside early evening then, apparently 110 mph gales were reported a short distance from me on a breakwater.
I'm still thinking I'm very, very lucky compared to many 1000's of people in other parts of the country.:j0 -
We have had the strongest gusts here than in any of the other storms... It was scary so I cannot imagine how bad it must be for people who are getting much higher wind gusts. We have been forecast 65mph and I reckon that last big one was close to that.
Keep safe everyonePutting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

terrible here, the gusts are frightening and there are too many sustained winds. Really horrible and one hell of a sleepless night ahead. The strongest this year and now the light has flashed. Vacs filled and breakfast sorted
This little island cannot take much more, it is shrinking by the day. We need to completely re-think how we do things as these winters are going to get worse year on year. If little ice age goes according to plan then we could also get very sudden freezing cold. I hate it, I have hated this winter.0 -
Yes, very windy here now, and raining again. They say this is the last of the big storms. I hope so.
I just can't believe the level of flooding that has been seen. It's pretty mind boggling. Difficult to believe, this time two years ago, the south was facing a drought.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
We had no wind yesterday and yet the power went off. Heavy snow yesterday and late on last night, got up this morning to pelting rain and snow gone
Now sleety rain but calm.
I'm starting to watch for this American snow storm coming in, not sure if we're to get it but some reports say we will.0
