Felt I had to share my experience of Valuebasket.com. I ordered a Panasonic LUMIX Bridge camera on 31st July 2015 having read a few positive reviews. Paid by Debit Card (something I never usually do as I only ever usually purchase from EBay and pay by PayPal). Money debited from account on Monday 3rd August then nothing, so I emailed on Friday 7th. Reply received Monday 10th advising slight delay in despatch. Thought that I should look for further comments about supplier and came across many negatives on this site which set off some small alarm bells, words like scam didn't help. Wednesday 12th I received an email saying item had been passed to carrier, tried to track and all I got was no update available at this stage. Today Friday 14th August 2015 camera was delivered well packed, all I can say is speak as you find, and I found Valuebasket professional at all times. Maybe they should state clearly tha items will be shipped from the Far East, and that delays may occur in customs but other than that Thank You Valuebasket.

Do.you work for VB then ?
  • Somehow expected a comment like that, but the answer is no. Maybe I was just one of the lucky ones, or maybe people who have had problems are more likely to post a comment than the ones who haven't, who can say. Everyone entitled to an opinion, and on this occasion VB performed better than the local Curry's.
  • Like others on this post, I do not recommend this company and their aftersales service. I am looking at any legal points in UK/HK to support the buyer - can anyone help?

    Thanks,

I hadn't realised that VB had local branches - where you can pay cash and pick up items - instantly - because Curry's does ....
  • Last week i spent 462pounds on a camera,it arrived, although it took a weekend a half, when i opened box it just had a two fork euro plug and no adaptor.when i contacted valuebasket they more or less said i was not telling the truth(really??....for a three quid adaptor on a 500quid camera,,,why would i bother??)coz they all ship with the adaptor. All iv had since then is robot like replies, heres a cut and paist of the email i got back today,,,remember this is after i spent 462 pounds with them.>>
    >Greetings from Valuebasket.

As we sourced out our items Internationally a universal adaptor was included in your parcel which allows your product to charge. We have clearly stated in our Terms and Conditions and FAQs our returns policy which we believe you accepted and acknowledged upon purchase.

    Thank you

so if i was anyone out there i would avoid value basket,i was lucky i only lost an adaptor worth a couple of quid but your not telling me it wouldnt be same story if half the camera was missing.

I know these offshore Asian hub companies hide their address and infer are a UK company

Well the price is low, very low relative.

I'd love o claim VAT but cannot.

However it arrived in 2 days bubble packed

I didn't fear, however I also hadn't read this forum prior to purchase I just found it checking not VAT reg'd for sure.

  • Worst shopping experience ever. 100% scam site. No replies to repeated requests to cancel the order, only ridiculously vague excuses about the courier not doing its job properly. Stay away from this site. I'm looking into ways of having the site shut down as they are simply taking the !!!! on people... while stealing their money. The positive reviews you see about them are written by themselves using phoney accounts.

I ordered a phone in January 2015. Since then there have been several issues with it. In July I logged 'faulty within' warranty case. It took 6(!) weeks until they finally agreed to take the phone back for repair. I sent the phone back on 22nd September via courier. Today is 11th October and nobody knows where the item is. Last Monday (5th October) was the last time I've heard from them 'rest assuring me' that they are doing their best. When I called the very unhelpful helpline and requested to speak to any manager, I was refused because the managers are NEVER available to speak to customers and was recommended to send an email. Throughout the whole conversation I felt like I am talking to a machine repeating pre-recorded messages. Also, I was told that I can forget about demanding any refund. So at the moment I have neither phone nor money that I paid for the item. And the best is that nobody is bothered to respond to my enquiries where the phone is anymore.
I believe this could be now classified as fraud since they took my money but failed to delivered what was promised.
BE WARNED - never buy anything from them, find some other seller, even if the item is more expensive. You'll save yourself lots of frustration and time.
  • I needed a digital SLR camera, and spent a lot of time reading reviews and comparing the various cameras within my price range. I finally decided to go for the Nikon D5300. It was around £460 on the high street, and £420 on Amazon. I was about to place the order on Amazon, but at the last minute decided to do a more general search. I landed on Value Basket, where the camera was £360! So I placed the order on 4 November, and settled down to await the camera, as they had promised delivery in 5-8 days. But on the 13th, I received an email from them stating that there would be a delay in delivery due to warehousing issues. The delivery date was pushed back to 23 November, which meant the delivery time had jumped from 8 days to 19 days. I was disappointed, but not overly concerned. I fired off an angry email to their customer service department and received some automated responses. But then I belatedly started to do some research on ValueBasket, and the reviews I read filled me with dread, being generally quite negative. People talked of items that never arrived; of second hand items being passed off as new; of appalling customer service, et c. The consensus appeared to be that this company was just a scam, offering sub-market prices and then simply failing to deliver. They provided no address information, and I primed myself for disappointment.

But on the 19th, the camera was delivered. It was intact and working, appeared to be genuine, and was brand new. So I think the moral of this story is that ValueBasket is not a scam. From my limited experience of them, they may have some issues with customer service, and delivery times, but I got my camera, albeit delayed. It had been promised in 8 days, and I got it in 15. Perhaps they should be a bit more honest about the possibility of longer delivery times, as I am sure many customers would put up with the delay if they are able to enjoy the significant price reductions. In this case, the camera was 15% cheaper than Amazon and 22% cheaper than Curry's.

So in conclusion I would say that this company is not a scam. I don't usually join forums such as this, but I thought it was unfair that this firm received so many negative reviews. Whilst it is true that some people have a bad experience with them, mine was relatively pain free. And while their delivery needs some work, they can certainly offer pretty attractive discounts.
  • I was scammed by valuebasked.com. I ordered a phone on 29 OCT 2015 and my order number is 474127-900055. I paid £329.99. They lied about shipping it by getting a fake tracking number from myHermes. I called them and they kept telling me nonsense such as "the courier cannot have access to the delivery area" just to stall time. Their call center is somewhere in Asia and the reps have a very broken English. They asked me for another address where to deliver, but by this time I realized they were just postponing the inevitable when I would ask for my money back. They said they first have to wait for the order to arrive back at their warehouse. How about the refund ? It's been over a month now and they have not refunded me. They are not replying to e-mails about the refund and nobody answers when I call (i.e. put on hold for too long). VALUEBASKET CLEARLY A SCAM.
