  • The name valuebasket is a misnormer, it should read valuelessbasket. I've been burnt with £293.00 having returned a faulty camera back to them. Now I do not have the camera or my money.
However, I'm determined to chase them for as lomg as it takes.

Can't you do a charge back on your card?
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

I made the mistake of ordering a camera, lens and flash from them. Money was taken straight away, then they sat on the order for a week before telling me they had no stock of the camera (despite all items being shown as in stock when I ordered). I cancelled the camera, asked for a refund, and for them to send the remaining items straight away. They say on this for another week, and I got the lens/flash 13 days after order. I am still waiting for the refund though 2 weeks after asking for it.

Also customer services are very slow to respond and ineffectual.

I went to SLRHut.co.uk instead to order the camera and had a much better experience. They were very professional, answered queries very quickly and the price was very good. Plus I had the camera in hand less than 48 hours after order, which considering they are based in New York and had to ship it to the uk is damn impressive!

That site also has lots of red flags that should lead you to avoid them
    e.g.
No physical address details provided (just a mailbox)
Privacy and returns policy are clearly copypasted from an American template and don't comply with UK/EU law

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • I have recently purchased a Canon Eos 700d camera and a Tamron 16-3000mm zoom lens( two separate transactions) from Value Basket.com
Both arrived after about a weeks time, both by tracked delivery and both items seem fine at this early stage.
The only potential problem I can see is come the day that a repair may be required will the company honour their advertised 36month warranty?
This is important as the lens had an enclosed warranty stating "valid only in Japan".
    Time will perhaps tell.

OK How much did you actually save carrying out this risky procedure ?
  • Around £180 all told, I would add that I hadn't read any negative feedback before my orders.
I guess this was beginners luck.... until perhaps I need any warranty repairs?

Well I guess you are inferring that I have some conection to the firm, but no.;I was merely stating the facts and that upto now I had been lucky.
I was naive in not researching the company prior to my two purchases. But you live and learn.
I do find this site very useful though I probably should have consulted it previously, keep up the good work!
