And students don't pay anywhere near the price the likes of Costa & Starbucks charge! £1 for a coffee, and a decent barista coffee at that so it's hardly breaking the bank!

Plus, most eateries & cafes offer decent discounts to students, often up to 25% (Nandos and Frankie & Benny's, Pizza Express etc) so it is perfectly possible to socialise on a budget!

The links give earlier were to on campus branches of Costa and Starbucks.

Even at £1 a throw, a coffee most days takes a decent slice out of anyone's budget.

I suppose it's all about what you want.

If you want your coffee have your coffee but that means less for other things.

If you don't mind that all well and good.

I work near to Costa Coffee in Waterstones, Gower St (close to University college London). i sometimes go there at lunch time or after work. At lunch time during the term it is overflowing with groups of students. I am genuinely amazed at how they can afford it.

Even on campus branches of Costa etc don't charge full price to students. I've never paid more than £1.20 for a coffee at student rates in Costa.

I assumed it was cheaper so thanks for confirming it. However, I still think that's a lot of money to spend regularly rather than as an occasional treat.

I guess it's all relative. I don't drink alcohol often so I can have two coffees a day for the price of a pint (yes, it's just £2 a pint in the student bar :D )

But you're a mature student (as I've been in the past) and that's not really typical when it comes to budgeting.

Completely irrelevant. A budget is still a budget. I also think your views are vastly outdated.

I pay £1.78/month for coffee. One cheap instant jar, 200g.

Does that also buy you a social life? I can't imagine what sort of coffee you're drinking so cheaply, I think I'd rather drink the dishwater than that ;)
