Tipping pizza delivery people

Is it the done thing these days? I use to give a bit extra like rounding up the total amount but with paying with card over the net I just take the pizza at the door. Are they expecting a tip or something do you think?

I've never tipped and wouldn't have thought of it. I might not wait at the door for the 1p change though.0 -
I think they still hope for a tip. They don't get paid much.
I tend to give them a quid. As I couldn't be bothered going to collect the pizza myself I always feel i should tip the guy for bringing it. Plus you get better service on subsequent orders if you have a reputation for tippingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I never order pizza to be delivered but always tip those who deliver Indian, Chinese, etc. food. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

I would tip (although I never order pizza for delivery) as you might get an extra unwanted topping next time otherwise.................0

If its free delivery then I'll tip, but if they charge for delivery I generally wouldn't.0

My son worked for a certain pizza chain. The wages are poor and he really appreciated tips. Helped him to actually earn the minimum wage.0

I understand tipping if you are paying cash but always found that if you have already paid by card then it's a bit awkward just handing over a tip at the door... could be just me, seems the general opinion is to tip.

I agree with this. Not to bring race into this but in m experience it's only the Chinese takeaways who charge for delivery. I have no idea why they do and others don't.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
