If I am wrong, please correct me, but from what I'm reading.....

This is what i need to stick to (and improve upon, not sure how):

Statement of Affairs and Personal Balance Sheet

Monthly income after tax................ 2256.71 This figure

    Total monthly expenses.................. 1795.08
    takeaway this figure

Monthly UNsecured debt repayments....... 1,217.24 is less than this figure

Amount short for making debt repayments. -755.61
    by this much

In five years time you will not have paid off your debts, you will be £755 x 12 months x 5 years further into debt. Or £43,500

You have the income to fix this, but not without a LBM, and cutting back a lot of costs. I wish you luck.
I hope my maths are wrong

In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work

No child - but that does mean your utilities usage will go down; no kiddy-clothes washing or baby bathing - and you can put on a jumper and turn down the heating.

    Number of cars owned.................... 1
Think everyone agrees this should read: 0

    Satellite/Cable TV...................... 30.25
Taking this on two months after splitting with your Ex was not a good idea. Does anyone know if a debt management organisation can get this cancelled for OP?

    Groceries etc. ......................... 86.67
Some MSEers can feed a family for this. I can't - yet - but was intrigued as to what the .67p represents? :)

    Petrol/diesel........................... 65
    Should be zero.
    Road tax................................ 18
    Ditto.
    Car Insurance........................... 190.17
    Ditto.
    Car maintenance (including MOT)......... 5
    Ditto.

    Childcare/nursery....................... 300
    Hmm.

    Medical (prescriptions, dentist etc).... 25
    Get some sexy specs!

personal allowance (for make up, misc).. 216.7
Um, not good at all; more spends on make-up than food? And misc is quite unnecessary.

    Car(s).................................. 3000
Wipe out a couple of CCs - adds value when considering the interest you will avoid paying.

It occurs to me that as your Ex is in the UK on a dependant's visa, doesn't that mean that he is here to support you? As he is no longer doing that, um, shouldn't he go home?

do you know if its a good idea to switch electricity right now? i just switched from edf standard variable to npower online, which has an exit fee, but i think i read somewhere on mse that it might not be a good time to switch?

Did you read Martin's article and do the price-checker thing? Was npower online the cheapest deal for your home? Did you go through a cash-back site?

Shame you didn't mention you were thinking of doing this earlier - and taken advantage of MSEers experience - I could have suggested one company to check out; competitive, great service, and they'd give you £40 for signing up. ;) Still, I thought £30pm was pretty good for power, heating and hot water!
..Btw, my power bill halved when I switched away from npower's standard tariff three years ago.
