Hello Tonibetha, I'm glad to see you haven't abandoned your diary.
Been so distracted for the past few days (watching movies online), not been on the forum. I have managed to avoid spending money (except for a trip to the pound store). Spent last weekend indoors watching movies.
Have you thought of doing surveys? They don't bring in much, but more than just watching telly while you're at home. Sorting out stuff for Ebay is another good money-making activity (oh great - I see you've already started doing that).
The CCCS thing really helped me. I prioritised my debts, and it gave me a plan to pay it off.
As several posters have asked; did you actually sign up, or just do the on-line calculator-thingy? Must say I agree with everyone else in thinking that you could really do with professional help and should sign up properly.
I asked my dad for a two-month payment holiday, but my mum told me he was angry i asked, so i told him not to worry.
Will not say what am thinking about this, beyond reiterating that the sooner you can get your DD back home with you, the better.
received a letter from Natwest yesterday offering a £150 refund for overdraft charges i paid 7 years ago, lol. That was nice.
Good oh! Something to throw at your most expensive debt. :j
Tried to sell a coat on ebay (they had £0 insertion fees this weekend). No bids yet....
Worth noting auction end times when you start listings; avoid popular tv programmes, ending in the middle of the night or when many potential buyers will be at work - I favour Sunday tea-time (but would be interested to hear if anyone has found a better end time?).
Hope everyone is getting on well.
Not bad thanks, bar moments of sheer panic!0 -
Hi:j, Tonibetha
Glad to see you back, how's the coat selling going. Can you have a look around for other treasures to sell. Have you set up a pay plan yet, it would certainly give you abit of breathing space. How about a spending diary. Sorry, for all the questions, you have started your journey which is fab.:)Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

How are things going, Tonibetha? OK I hope0

The coat didn't sell, unfortunately. I plan to re-list it at a lower price. Today is my DD's birthday. She turned two today. So I'm feeling down today. Generally things have been good, tho. Haven't been doing much as I don't want to spend.0

Hello Tonibetha :hello: I hope your little girl had a lovely time yesterday - did you talk to her on skype?
Sorry to hear your coat didn't sell; was it a "buy it now"? If so, you'll probably get a better result putting it into an auction - with a very low starting price. It's a bit more nerve-racking, but does encourage bidders.
I hope you've also signed up for a proper debt management plan and decided to get rid of that money-sucking car!
There are plenty of activities you can do which cost nothing or very little - but it's difficult to know what to suggest without knowing more about your interests.
Thinking of you..0 -
I've been wondering how you've been getting on your little ones birthday must have been hard for you.
Forgive me if you've mentioned it already but is any of the debt your other halfs?
Keep going-maybe update your signature-it will give you a boost if you've manged to pay any off.0 -
Thanks, Robin. She had a great time (my mum took her out with her aunt and cousins, as it was my nephew's bday too). She's having a little celebration at school today.
Yes the coat was a buy it now. It was expensive but I will try an auction. Do I need to put a reserve on it?0 -
Glad she had a nice time Tonibetha, I really feel for you though
I truly think that the vast majority of things go for what they are worth on ebay if you start with a very low price, don't put a reserve on, and have clear photos/description- making it attractive early on brings in plenty of watchers and usually the more watchers the more bids I find!
I start everything at 1p, even cars we have sold in the past, and I am very very rarely disappointed with the price I get.0 -

Aww, she shares her birthday with her cousin - how lovely! Look on the positive side; hopefully she'll grow up especially close to him.
Is the coat worth an awful lot? The minimum reserve is £50... In which case you'd probably do better taking it to one of those "Frock exchange" shops (where they may not pay you until it sells, but even so..).
Am very, very worried about your silence re the debt management plan. And the !!!!!! car.
..Come on, you can do this. None of us know you in RL, we will not think badly of you - but we can be a useful 'sounding board' as you work out the way to go, and cheer each small step on your path to financial security.0 -
Hello Tonibetha. Thought I would just check up on things. Keep at it! It didn't get here overnight so it won't disappear overnight either.
Quick suggestion. Why don't you break down your debt details? It is more a psychological thing, but if you little debts here and there it feels less like a mountain to climb than when you lump everything together. I always break my debt up - even if there are differen 0% cut offs on the same card, I will break it up that way so I have a target date for each AND it doesn't look SO huge that I get disheartened.
The other thing you can do (if you haven't already) is look at getting a room mate. Maybe another person from the hospital you work at or a mature student. Either way - cuts down your rent and utilities (check your tenancy agreement first though) plus company! Earmark that savings to the smallest amount (or the highest interest). Remember when you start seeing that number go down - it gives you the energy to do more, so update your debt status, say once a month - you will find a real boost from that.
Good luck!0
