 Hey,
Still here checking your progress.
Number 6 is a short shaved head.
I'm glad your making progress but have to agree with the others about the car. Why don't you sell it. Use the money to pay off debt also save £4207.20 a year (I took all car insurane, maintenance etc of your SOA o get this fig) Make it your goal that when your are debt free you save up and buy yourself a car.
If you don't mind me asking why do you use the car only 1 day week for work? and where else do you travel in it?
The only reason I can think your clutching onto the car is so when you lose your house you can live in it! This may shound extreme but honestly it's where you'll be if you don't cut your spending.

Hi Tonibetha
I'm presuming you have to waer a uniform at work-if you wash it at home you'll get a tax refund see here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/uniform-tax-rebate
good luck0 -
I went on the CCCS website. it was so helpful. I've got a payment plan now...
@hanna: i was using the car daily, but i live and work quite close to the olympic site, and parking signs went up everywhere, so i couldn't park the car at work. Then i used to drive DD to the childminder's, park my car there and take the train.
I work in a different place on sunday. it's 30 miles away (an hour's drive) and the journey time is even longer with a train. When i was pregnant they had all these rail replacement buses that could make the journey 2.5 hours long (u could spend 30mins to an hour just waiting for the bus!. i was miserable then, so my parents sent the money as a wedding present. Even armed with the money, it took me another month and half to find a car we both liked (a lot of that was due to the fact that i was either at work or asleep!).
@cocalls: i dont wear a uniform at work, but i pay professional fees and today i printed off the form for a tax rebate of about £1600 (over 4 years). i hope i get it. i notice youre trying to lose weight. have you tried the Dukan diet. Been doing it since June. it's worked wonders, my friends are starting it now0 -
Your situation has changed though. You no longer need to go to the child minders. So essentially your paying £4207 a year to save yourself 2 hours on a Sunday! If your boss offered you £80 a week to stay on 2 hours you'd snap up the opportunity, get a good book and get your self on the bus!!!emergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

Hope your not to disheartened, we all have up's and down's. The calm before the LBM, so to speak.:rotfl:
Truth is until the moment of realization, you will go on making excuses and telling yourself that, X and Y is a justified purchase or need i.e car. The only person to decide what is an important addition to your life is you. We on here, are here because we can advise and show you what we have done to achieve debt freeness and share our journeys, what we can't do is do it for you. So we all, I believe hope to hear from you soon about your efforts with your debt and in getting your daughter back with you.:)Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

Been so distracted for the past few days (watching movies online), not been on the forum. I have managed to avoid spending money (except for a trip to the pound store). Spent last weekend indoors watching movies.
The CCCS thing really helped me. I prioritised my debts, and it gave me a plan to pay it off.
I asked my dad for a two-month payment holiday, but my mum told me he was angry i asked, so i told him not to worry.
received a letter from Natwest yesterday offering a £150 refund for overdraft charges i paid 7 years ago, lol. That was nice.
Tried to sell a coat on ebay (they had £0 insertion fees this weekend). No bids yet....
Hope everyone is getting on well.0 -
Hi Tonibetha, have you signed up to a debt management plan with CCCS if so very well done as it is the first step to being debt free and managing your money better again?
Been here for a long time and don't often post

Did you actually speak to CCCS or did you just use the online service ? I think you really need to speak to them to sort out your debts rather than trying to go it alone. A structured managed plan, possibly a DMP is what you need, especially if your family can't help now.0
