Homeland and Downton - Double Treats
Will watch H & record D, then watch D. Throw in a glass or two of red and crack open that box of After Eights.
Sunday nights are looking good0 -
Not a Downton fan but am definitely an After Eight fan!:rotfl:
Just been through the social diary and have booked a load of things to do over the next month or two.....- a mosque visit - thought it would be interesting
- 7 walks/rambles varying from 4 miles to 11:eek: - one of them is a sunrise walk on the winter solstice - our spiritual day!
- a ghost walk
- a halloween film night
- an agatha christie play
so none will break the bank. Quite a few of the walks are only £1 (plus petrol to get there) so good exercise and value.
Should keep me busy.0 -
Evening All,
WW I might take some inspiration from you with the meet up groups, at the moment I feel like I need something more socially, used to have a lot of work friends but now I'm only girl in the office
I think me not being happy in my current job is affecting a major impact on other areas of my life and I'm frustrated with myself I feel there has to be something more to life but what that is I don't know!
EH xx0 -
I have some update on my fabbing. Yesterday, I went out food shopping and I wore my nice jeans and ballet flats, although my top half (hair and top) didn't look so good, but its a start.
I the had a bit of a revelation yesterday - I got an upset tummy from a bad diet - since having our daughter 5 weeks, ago, OH and I haven't been eating well and we are both feeling it. We have agreed that we need to take care of ourselves for the sakes of our children as we want to see them grow up.
TOday was our daughters baptism and my Mum told me I had to wear nice clothes, hair and make up done. I did and felt great for it. When I got home, I changed into some more comfortable, but still make sure I looked nice. Great incentive to carry on fabbing.0 -
Cherryprint - yay for the no dieting!
WW - love the sound of all your planned activities over the coming months. We're really bad at planning to do stuff. Need to be more organised about that.
Still feeling pretty frumpy today although did remember to wear perfume! Also enjoyed a half hour to myself in a coffee shop this afternoon whilst DS napped in the pushchair. Had a cup of tea, piece of red velvet cake and sat and read Psychologies magazine.
Another goal I think for me could be to plan to get a babysitter one night a month so DH and I can go out for dinner. Only done it a couple of times in two years.0 -
Morning all,
LL - hoping you're feeling a bit better today, the Top to Toe plan sounds like a good idea, might have a think about that
ww - glad you managed to get your gran's old house sorted, the new activities sound fun x
EH - I know what you mean on the job front, I'm constantly frustrated with mine and the only thing that gets me through some days is the thought that I am working towards something else. Is it just the job itself that's stressing you or are you not happy in the general area you're in? Is there something you'd rather do, and if so what can you do to make that happen? I know it can be scary to try and plan things like that, but really worth it I think - you deserve better then to be miserable in your working life x
Bit of a lazy weekend I must admit and had way too many 'blips' on the food frontDid go for my organised walk yesterday - we had a gorgeous sunny day for it, which was quite surprising, so was really nice to have a walk along the beach and through a little harbour town. 6-7 miles in total, which was just enough for me. Not done much work this weekend, need to get in gear I think. OH is back this afternoon so looking forward to seeing him again
I'm off work tom and Wed as it's my birthday tom so we can have a mid-week weekend :rotfl:Am not going to bother with any major goals until after that as I probably won't stick to them
But once that's out of the way then new goals up to Christmas need thinking about!
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
Good Morning All
Damp and mizzly here. Was going to plant my spring bulbs, but not my kind of weather. I'm definitely a fair-weather gardener. Maybe it will brighten up later.
Off to Costco and a little mooch round the chazza shops. I should be doing some paperwork ....
Re the jobs. TBH I listen to people and think to myself I am so glad I'm out of it now. I will shortly be almost self-sufficient. I will have mine and my husbands pension which will cover day to day living and I can then do some work or a small business (preferably both) to top up my income.
The world of work has changed - and not for the better. There are a lot of stressed unhappy people out there.
I think PP has it right.
Think about what you really want and then take steps to make it happen. It may take some time - years even but at least you will be doing something positive to improve your situation. With the new pension rules you are going to be working for a very long time. You need to enjoy it. Do courses, acquire new skills - whatever it takes.
I seriously think that as job security is a thing of the past what is required is flexibility, portfolio working and building up more than one income stream.
I genuinely believe we are now going through a third industrial revolution. The first move was from the land to the factories, the second was from the factory to service industries. This one - who knows which way it is going but one thing is for sure - the industrial and economic landscape is shifting.
A lot of people are going to be left behind, the ones who survive and thrive will have to be flexible and adaptable.
Time to fab up and get out of the house.
Have a Magic Monday0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm still eating really slowly and only when hungry and have noticed I am only getting through about half the portions I used to eat. Last night went out for a meal with OH and only ate about a third of the plate. Usually this would cause me massive amounts of guilt (clean plate lover), but I asked the waiter to put it in a container for me (this is very common in North America so I wasn't embarrassed) and he did! Might as well get my money's worth and not feel like I need to eat once I'm full.
To everyone talking about jobs, I completely agree with you all and I've also been thinking for some time about building different income streams and doing something I enjoy. It is such a waste of life to be in a job you hate, and it's a situation I'm also struggling with.
I am naturally drawn to creativity, writing and books so would love to be able to develop income streams in those areas eventually. For now though, my job is making me so miserable that my priority has to be to get out ASAP and find somewhere less stressful. I'm the most laid back person in the world and if my job is making me stressed there is something very wrong. So good luck to those of you seeking new opportunities!
Haven't decided what to do for Magic Monday - will probably use up some of my Lush products and have a ridiculously bubbly bath!
Good luck for tomorrow everyone and enjoy your evening xxNot buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!0 -

i have been thinking about doing this too. i've been really drawn to make up over the past few years (prob because as i got fatter, lipstick was the one thing that didn't make me feel awful whilst trying it on!). i really want to do the introductory make up course at the Illamasqua school but its £1,000 and will involve travel to and a 5 day (poss 4 if i can work it) stay in London so prob looking at £1,500 all in. its not so bad as you get nearly £300 back in make up but its still steep.
however, i reckon if i can build myself a little business doing make up for weddings at weekends then doing going out make up and make over parties during the week, it'll all eventually tot up to a nice little earner and be completely flexible. when i eventually get a training contract it will involve a nearly 4 grand instant payrise a year from what i'm on now and i'm seriously considering saying my first years "extra" cash is going on this. i can but dream :rotfl:0 -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PP :bdaycake:
much love
