Thanks all
Gran wasnt too bad at home, at the stage of being very repetative but recenetly cant see the difference between dreams and reality.
Carers were going in 4 times a day but she wouldnt have it saying she was able to do everything herself, so to try and keep the peace checks we went down to just checking her in morning and at night.
Wednesday she pushed her carelink buzzer shouting help, ambulane came and she was so out of it we went to hospital, she rallied back round at 2.30 am and they wanted me to take her home at that time! Agreed i would come back at 8am and then eventually the next day they wanted to keep her in another night.
Moved today for 10 days respite, doesnt like her room, thought the lift was her bedroom, thought she was on a cruise ship again, didnt like lunch but ate the lot and a glass of wine, 30 mins after lunch was asking what time tea was, she wanted to see me out and was crying so the staff whisked her off.
Got longer hours in place for care when she comes home but still not really enough but best they can offer at the mo.
Anyway off to pub tonight and theres music on, will try and sort my baggy eyes out and sink a few vodkas.
Tomorrow we have a really posh late wedding to go to, so will make a big effort to glam up and will have Sunday off from visiting to recover.
Ended up with a hospital sandwih again for breakfast and bought KFC home for kids, so have eaten a piece of that, so Paul McKennas eat slowly at the table and savour your food like a gourmet has not really happened. The 30 day shread will have to wait. But loads of my beauty goodies from ebay have arrived so will hopefully start testing them out next week.0 -
Claire - hope you have a good time at the pub with some medicinal vodka. You need a destress session!:beer:0

Evening everyone! It's FRIDAY!!!
Well done on all your fabbing (best verb ever!)
Claire - I am glad you got longer hours for your Gran when she goes home. I experienced similar care issues with my nan earlier this year and it makes me so mad! I hope you manage to get it sorted - enjoy the vodka!!
happycrafter - I'm new to this board/thread too! I like the way you've broken your goals down to weekly/monthly, etc. I might do that as I'm more likely to stick to mine if they're scheduled in. BB cream is definitely the way forward!
All of your outfits sound exciting. I've managed to not look like scruff at work for the past 3 days! Going to try and stay organised so I don't end up running around like a headless chicken in the mornings trying to find a pair of tights/skirt/top etc.
This weekend I'm doing more running and my Paul McKenna stuff arrived today so I'm intrigued to see if my eating habits will stop being so insane. Going to try and keep up my new beautification routine.
Have a great night xNot buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!0 -
Ow ow, just did my first day on 30 day shred and realised I am so unfit.
Popped in to store 21 and found an orange top for 9.99 then popped to peacocks and found some shoes the same colour so I got them as well. They will look good with my dark blue denim jeans.
Going to relax now and watch strictly come dancing.0 -
May I join in too? I've been lurking for a bit but too nervous to post (and so much easier to think about fabbing rather than actually getting off my bottom and doing it!).
Er, ok...my goals (albeit fairly vague) for between now and Christmas are:
* Lose 1 stone (I'm counting my 'start' weight from Monday 1st October). Would like to lose just over two stone altogether but I think one should be doable in three months.
* Treat myself to some new things each month to celebrate any weight loss.
* Go to the gym at least twice a week.
* Start wearing my hair down more rather than just tying it back all the time.
* Wear lip gloss/stick every day.
* Wear perfume every day.
* Face mask twice a week.
* Moisturise my feet every day and use my Micro-pedi three times a week.
* Body lotion every day (from an MSE point of view - am in love with Superdrug vitamin e one!!)
* Start flossing my teeth every day and not just when I can be bothered (:o my teeth are not in the best state - I have about a zillion fillings)
* Summon up the courage to go and get my eyebrows threaded - they are wild and untamed as I am too wimpy and lazy to pluck!
Would also like to do something in terms of clothes but not sure what. Am starting use Pinterest to pin ideas of the sorts of outfits I like so that maybe at some point I can use that as a basis for buying new stuff (either in the short term if they would suit my current body shape/size or longer terms if/when I lose weight).
I'm going to start all this fabbing tomorrow. Although I did start back at the gym this week and managed to go Wednesday and today - yay me!0 -
Just looked back at my mini goals for this week and realise that I haven't done brilliantly....WelshWoofer wrote: »Right, here are my non-work related mini-goals for this week (Mon-Fri) .....

Good evening everyone
Welcome Sparrow - some great goals there, nice and easy gentle steps.
WW - don't worry about not fulfilling each and every goal, each and every week - as long as the general trajectory is onwards and upwards then all is good.;)
Glad to hear things are improving a little Claire with your Nan. Enjoy the vodka.
Reading all these stories about our relatives needing care is just so sad. I am hearing so much these days. More and more of my friends are having to deal with these issues and some of the stories are just heartbreaking.
One of my friends lost her husband last week, another lost her father. Dark days.
Anyway I have decided to take the bull by the horns. I have been in touch with SS today to take advice and to insist that they give me some help and guidance to get some improvements in my husband's care. I have set up a meeting with his care manager for next Friday.
I am learning that I am going to have to fight much much harder from now on. No more gently tip-toeing through this minefield. I am NOT going to have another day like last Tuesday. My back is against the wall and I'm coming out fighting. If necessary I will fight dirty. I'm striking back.
I am naturally a polite, quietly spoken gentle soul and I'm sick of seeing my husband needs ignored. My softly approach has largely failed - time to change tactics...
I have started making notes for the meeting with the care manager. I will present him a list of grievances and a detailed care plan which I want to see put in place.
OH has an MRI scan next week. I have requested more physio for him and I will ask for both a fresh Continuing Care Assessment and an up to date OT assessment.
For myself I've made a hair appt for next week - and I intend to go shopping and buy some clothes. The fabbing needs to go up a gear.0 -
Hi All, can I join you?
I've just DD 5 weeks ago and want to be fab. SInce having DS in 2010 (aged 2.5) I have revamped my wardrobe and although i have some nice clothes (comfortable but groomed) I don't wear them all the time.
My goals are:
1. loose baby weight (I am breastfeeding so most of hte weight has come off but I need to watch my diet).
2. tone up my stomach, which is my problem area.
3. have a 'fab Thursday'. DS will be back a nursery one day a week from next Thursday, so this will be a 'me' day (DD is 5 weeks and so is much easier to manage than a toddler!!). I aim to make myself look nice, starting with THursdays:
ensure I am defuzzed
wear my nice clothes
make up (tinted moisturiser, natural lip gloss, highlighter, bronzer)
paint my nails
wear at least one accessory e.g. hairband or a piece of jewellery0 -
Morning everyone,
Quite a few new joiners yesterday - welcome and good luck to you all!
Last night I read the Paul Mckenna book, watched the dvd and managed to get the CD onto my ipod so I fell asleep listening to it. At first I got incredibly relaxed from the audio (although at some points I started laughing because of his wannabe American accent and my OH was so confused lying there listening to me giggle :rotfl:). After about five minutes my head started spinning and I became completely unaware of my body (I tried to uncross my legs and found that they weren't actually crossed...). I relaxed again and eventually fell asleep.
What has struck me about the Paul Mckenna thing is that it's so simple. It's like someone has turned a switch in my head that helps me see things more clearly.
I have been effectively dieting since the age of 15 and the weight comes off and then on but overall my relationship with food never changes. I think that this is massively unhealthy for me in the long term so I'm 100% committed to changing the way I eat. Because I have never once gotten right down to goal weight in these 15 years (I get freaked out and start to sabotage my efforts when I get close), I've never really believed I will get there. I did the visualisation exercise in the book/audio, and for the first time I was able to imagine myself as being slim and healthy and I actually expect myself to get there. It's very weird but so exciting!
Will let you know how I get on!
Have a great day all xNot buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!0 -
Hi all
Welcome to all the newbies and big hugs to all those that need them and hi five to all those doing fab.
I did try and post the other night but the forum went down, so I am trying to keep up but still not as regularly as I'd like.
Pleased with myself last night - I go spinning (its not my fav exercise) on a fri night and you have to book as spaces are limited and I really really didn't want to go, but as I'd paid I thought I'd better go. And I'm glad I did as I really enjoyed it and have now booked for next week.
Planns for the weekend
1. Finish tidying the house
2. Start some crafting, have some craft fairs coming up and there are a few new things I want to try
3. Pop to tesco to collect a couple of things I've ordered
4. Watch the local carnival tonight, (if its not raining)
5. Hubbies birthday tomorrow so treat him all day, we are out for a meal in the evening so that should be good.
6. Try and get some fabbing in there somewhere.
Have a good weekend all.Chiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor
