I smell pretty great right now if I'm honest.0 -

And people call me a troll :rotfl:
I've got nothing wrong with people having private education. In fact, it helps clear up seats for state school kids. Any way, if you read through the thread, it's you that's been quite rude and people quite rightly are annoyed that you are spending tax payer money on things like cigarettes, flights etc...
Certain flights can be justifiable, but flights to NY on tax payer money is not really justifiable
A car can also be justifiable etc..0 -

Well I get given £6857 from the gov't (and a further £1000 from the uni),but I've got to pay about half of that back, however last year I saved about 2.5K of the student loan
A bit different to getting hand outs0 -

Easily covered out of £650PM.
Gees , no wonder you're not looking for a job !!!!
Perhaps I'll give up work if all my taxes are going to people like you!
When you support yourself without handouts I will start to take you seriously. Until then enjoy it while it lasts , - it's going to get tough -especially for people like you!0 -
iammarmite,
I don't think you're being unreasonable from what you've told us. There are usually two sides to every story though so your mum could have an genuine point for all we know.
That said, parents (especially mums) can be power hungry freaks when you still live with them. They seem to think it's their god given right to rule your life and try to hold you back even though you're a fully grown adult.
As others have said, if she won't let you use the car thats fine, let her get on with it and pay the expenses of running it herself. Save your money, get a moped or a small car and get your own freedom. At that point you're not under your mums rule.
Unfortunately MSE isn't the best place to ask for help and advice, there are too many keyboard warriors here determined to be seen up high on the moral high ground. Sgt Pepper has been up there for ages and likes to wind people up on a daily basis. I've no idea what fuels him to do it but he seems to get some kind of twisted kicks out of suggesting everyone is wrong or at fault. I really feel sorry for Pep.. the wannabe plod that never made the grade. Clearly he feels a duty to police the internet to make himself feel valued in society.
Good luck.0 -
Is Sgt Pepper your mum?0

But there is an old pram in the garage and a dummy in the cupboard. Just give me a shout if you need them and need your nappy changing.
:rotfl: Nice put down. Actually made me giggle. Is Sgt Pepper your mum?

While you have a very valid point, unfortunately, you do miss the obvious point that OP can easily change that by moving out...
... except we all live in the real world here and know that £100 a month rent, plus £150 on food would not even begin to come close to what that costs in the real world.
FWIW, I don't care where your money comes from OP, or what it gets spent on. I just don't think you have the remotest grasp of the reality of the cost of living and, I suspect, its relevant to your initial question of reasonableness on the part of your mother because it's part of the reason she is taking this approach on the car. It's entirely up to you if you want to take that on board while you're getting the last word in."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -

Let me give you some much needed advice.
1. Buy a dictionary.
2. Look up the words "Respect" and "Blatant troll".
I get the whole negativity surrounding the unemployed. Try having a disability that severely limits the work you can do (Office work is about the only thing I can do really), no experience and overcoming depression, living a long while away from the jobs that ARE available at the moment- and come back to me. And while your unemployed, don't claim any benefits- and see how long you last. You will starve after a couple of days so my guess isn't very long.
Time this thread was put to bed now I think.0 -

Good luck.
If as you say he is a fully grown adult, then he doesnt need his mum, and doesnt need the bed she provides or the meals she cooks or the car she owns etc etc and move out if he doesnt want to be under mums rules
OP I do accept that with a disabilty all of the above isnt easy, but you have to accept that you live under your mums roof0 -
Why haven't we provided the op with a mobility car?0
