I like that version of the second purse!
I dont have the available cash, or the time to keep track of buying from my self... I might do what you do and keep my leftover cash for that purpose
Thank you for that :T
I'm glad you like it! Anyone is free to use it as an idea if they want to.
I've tried a number of times to understand the "second purse" thread, but it still remains totally incomprehensible to me! This system works for me and is easy to keep track of.Because it's fun to have money!
£0/£70 August GC

I have been known to do the same...
Likewise, Ill only have one glass, maybe two if its the weekend.. but will continue till there is none... Then Ill buy more to stock up! I try to store them in a cupboard in the hall, so that they arent cold and ready to drink... Sometimes it works... Sometimes it doesnt. :rotfl: Good luck with your last year...
Small spends for me today...
I had to take my library books in for renewal so I treated DS to a Mucky Ds (which we rarely ever ever have cos I think its vile...but he loves!). Hes had no real treats this month and hes been forbidden from putting almost ANYTHING in the trolley EVER!! :rotfl: ... So I thought Id get him a treat, as hes not getting any pocket money just now and has been sooooo good.... plus I had vouchers
So.... 77p for drinks from Home Barga!ns
And £3.98 for Food from Manky D...
Total monthly spend: £197.21
I know that feeling! and thanks :T.
My DH has just bought me 6 bottles of wine today for our anniversary (and some flowers :j) - made me laugh when he said, "don't worry, it was on special offer" - music to my ears!!flubberyzing wrote: »I'm glad you like it! Anyone is free to use it as an idea if they want to.

That sounds like a good idea - I might have to steal it!
Well, I'm declaring a spend of £421/£400 for October so a £21 overspend - I always seem to be a bit over. Luckily, I have a buffer as the budget I try to keep to on here is £80 per week but I actually have £85 a week in my actual budget. I just hoped that I would be able to save the £5 a week for other things.

I'm going to declare at just :j£216.52/£400 :j which is primarily because DS (20) moved out. He really did eat half of everything I bought and I have had to freeze stuff we cannot get through every week since he went...
I am going to reduce for November even though I am baking Christmas stuff this week.
BTW it's my fault the temperature plummeted and it's blowing a northerly gale today as I went into the Builders' Merchants yesterday afternoon and ordered everything for this week's outdoor project - so sorry everyone...:o Expect Snow on Tuesday (delivery day) - although the Chimney Sweep is coming Monday so we can't light the fire until then which means it might warm up Monday later on. (Welcome to the SL rambling surefire weather forecasting service - not very GC but it had to be said!:rotfl:)

Happy to report that I've pretty much kept to my £7 a week budget. I've had a few visitors, and have bought a few extras then, but, like some others, I just think of that as coming out of my "entertainment" budget.
I shopped today at Morries, and spent £4.61, on plain flour, carrots, red onions, spring greens, a bag of pears, tin of sardines, hot choc mix and (very unusually for me) a packet of "savers" cup-a soups in view of the cold weather. That's all. I buy milk once a week - 4pts for £1 at Ic*l*nd, and have enough until about Wednesday.
Everything else I have in stock, or make from what I have. I sprout beans and peas for extra vitamins, make all my own sourdough bread (so no outlay for yeast), and all in all have a healthy and tasty diet.
Example - for lunch today I had the last third of a HM pizza, with a salad made of chopped white cabbage (left from last week), grated carrot and onion and bean sprouts, all tossed in a bit of dressing. And a slice of HM chocolate cake - the 5-minute mug cake recipe adapted, and cooked in a large margarine tub, so that I can slice it and have it over several days. (Used up the last of my cocoa powder, so will look at buying some more next week - usually get S**nsb*rys own brand, but they have not had it lately, so will have to get C*db*ry's if they don't bring it back!)
Will go onto the November page shortly to re-commit!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
I got my passata - delighted! (it's the little things in life, isn't it?) 6 litres of it now in the pantry, which should keep me going for a few weeks. Around €11 spent, including passata, burger buns, tissues, a couple of fancy yoghurts and a cracker selection box so that we can scoff it and see if it's something we should keep around for the holidays.
That's my excuse anyway
Fancy new Aldi opened up right beside the huge MrT extra store - am so happy! Lots of local produce and so much cheaper than its neighbour!0 -
I'm here until tomorrow night officially, but I don't think I'll be spending tomorrow, so I'm going to declare at £281.08/£300 for this month. I'll keep checking in, but I'm also reading the November thread to keep up.
When we went shopping on Tuesday, DH said to DD, 'I can't have those KitKats because they cost too much.' So I explained that if he wanted them, he could have them, but that's how we've been able to treat ourselves to other things this year! At least he didn't put them in the trolley :T He's starting to get the hang of it at last!2025 Fashion on the ration
