Finished for Oct so just posting totals before jumping over to Nov thread. 78% budget spent in 83% year gone. It's getting harder to make any more savings than 5% I must be coming close to what I actually spend every year.

Gone over my budget today which now stands at £260.20 which is £20.20 more than I wanted and havent finished yet. :(

I did buy a large sack of potatoes which cost £9.99 so as I thought they have gone up quite a lot since last bag.

Been all topsy turvy over the last few weeks as work going on in the house means moving furniture, cleaning, etc anyway I have been collecting up my receipts and pleased to see my total is £185.22/£200.

We've got a Halloween party this weekend so food/drink for that will probably push us over, but half the bits have been bought - so coming in on target is not impossible.

I had a much better experience with whoopsies in Asda today, I was rather nervous as got smacked in the face last with with a bag of Salmon steaks, not nice.

Well when I looked there was no one at the reduced cabinet but the reductions wernt great, while I was looking a young assistant came up and said if theres anything you want give it to me as its being reduced again,so I gave him a couple of things, mince beef and chicken breasts and was delighted when he marked themdown to half the reduced price. As there was still no one else there I picked a few more things, chicken breast joint, 3 packs of beef casserole steak and a 2kg piece of boned pork shoulder, it all came to 8.98 but full price would have been 23.58, so well pleased with that. With what I want to use up I now have more than enough meat for November.

  • When I did do it I worked out that we spend £30-40 on rubbish for OH like coke (4 bottles of the branded stuff a week!), crisps & pot noodles (I wouldn't touch any of these things). I was horrified but it is his money too. I now just keep it to certain limits - one one multi bag of crisps a week, for example, and only one pot noodle ever couple of weeks. Anything else he can buy himself! :D

i think you and me have the same oh lol HE was off on hol last week and all i got was when are you gettting me some proper food(junk food) and where's by 3litre coke lol

That's a pretty good haul - well done for being brave :T
I hope to be making two dozen small Christmas Puddings (Old School recipe) and about a dozen Christmas cakes (each a third of the mix size) - baked in my milk-saucepan-cake-tins with the handles removed - Oh and mincemeat to the Delia recipe except with pecans instead of any other nuts. I've joined the local fundraising committee and there is a Christmas sale in November. I shall take some HM jam too but that is mostly made (though there are still 2011 plums and damsons in the outside freezer; maybe some damson vodka too...). I make them all as if households are 1-2 people as so many are and people like hm but many can't be bothered, don't have time or don't have the skills so it is my offering. Loads of other people knit, crochet, embroider, paint, craft or whatever - I cook! (it relaxes me!)

    SL
WOW - that's amazing! I wish I was as organised to do as much! I still like Delia's mincemeat too, and it lasts us 2 years at a time! If I use it all for us, I get tempted and eat too many mince pies :rotfl:

NSD for me today. Had a bit of a knitting day, in between sorting the bank account and getting a soft tyre fixed.

If anyone is interested, M&S have roast turkey breasts at £5.99, but if you buy the meal deal, you get the turkey, a bag of potatoes and a bag of green beans or carrots for £5.00 :)
My turkey roast is in the freezer for Christmas and I'm going for a pork roast next week. HTH
