    1) When will I receive the reward money?

    2) When do I desposit the £500 each month? i.e. at the 1st of every month?

    3) When does this offer end?

    4) If a new customer signs up and then referrs a friend, do the new customer also get £50?

    Hi Nrishiraj,

The subject of referrals is dealt with on the referrals board but I'll answer those questions for you here.

    1) You should receive the recommend a friend incentive within 8 weeks of the referral voucher being sent off (so long as you begin to fund the acount with the required £500 p/month within that 8 weeks.)

    2) It doesn't matter when you deposit the £500 and you don't have to deposit it all in the one go either - so long as £500 has been put into your account overall throughout the whole month you meet the requirements (you cannot transfer it in from another A&L account but you could pay it in via a standing order from another bank account you have, you could pay it in by cheque or with cash even.)

    3) The offer has always been around for the last few years (at first it was £50 then it was reduced to £25 then put back up to £50 for most of the latter half of last year then again reduced to £25 at Christmas (I know very festive!) and now as of 2nd of April it is £50 again. The new referral vouchers say the offer is open from 2nd April til 30th but it may be extended beyond that. If you were wanting to go for it though I'd recommend trying to get it done before the 30th just to be sure as it possible they could change it again then.

    4) You could sign up as a new customer and get referred for which you would get £50 plus whatever your referrer gives back of their portion (Look on the referrers board for details) and then get your friend or partner to sign up for which you would also get £50 and they would get £50.

    I hope that helps.

    Regards

    Michelle

And, as I understand it, if you only had £250 to pay in one month, you could even move it to another non-A&L account and then pay it back in again!

Very good point Stephen - you could basically do this with any amount because as soon as you've paid it in you can withdraw it again and pay it in again etc :D It really is quite easy to work your way around it.

You need to open your account first before the referral. ie you need to know your account number so that you can claim.

As it says on my signature "Switched to Alliance and Leicester Current Account. £50 cashback voucher in progress ". This has been on there since January and I still haven't had my cashback... neither has the referrer. I chased them up a few weeks back but still nothing. It sounds a good deal... if they ever pay out.
  • Thanks for letting me know - it doesn't sound like such a great deal after all!

    Hi Adon30,

I've referred a lot of people and most have gone through without any hitches but unfortunately when they do make a mistake it can take a while to get it sorted out as they send out automated general letters that aren't much use. Also the regular customer services line don't seem to be very well-versed when it comes to incentive payments so often when you query it with them nothing gets done. From Jan to April is the longest time I've ever seen for someone to still not have been paid out - 8 weeks really should be the maximum time you should have to wait and most are paid out much quicker than this. If I were you I would try emailing them from the secure messaging system on your account page as this seems to have speeded things up for a couple of people I referred who didn't get their payment on time. Good luck with it and I hope you get it sorted out soon.

    Regards

    Just to clarify one thing...

    When it saves £500 per month, does that mean, 1st month = £500, 2nd month = £1,000, 3rd month = £1,500 etc...?

    Or

Simply £500 per month i.e. I can put in £500 and then take it out the next day and do this every month?

You can pay it in, then take it out the next day.
